Play off games v Average attendances

Aye but Klopp has created a mentality when they all believe that anything is possible. Jack Ross is negative & we only ever squeeze past teams. Bit of a difference.

We seen how important the fans were under Allardyce. The difference was that everyone believed in the manager & what the team were trying to do.
I can fully accept what you are saying when it comes to buying a season ticket but this is a one off game where our support can make all the difference. Fuck who the manager is or whether you support his tactics or not, the players could do with that extra support today and if someone claims to love the club, they should make the effort “if possible “. , to get there.

I know it's a big game but got to look at the other side of things where people turned out for the big games against the likes of Coventry & Pompey and we just didn't deliver. We blew a really good spot with 7 games to go because the players and manager couldn't cope with the pressure. There's no momentum here, if we were on a good run of form going into the play offs it would 100% be different. Can't criticise people for not going if they turned out for Cov & Pompey.

So we have a much higher average attendance than Leeds, but they show up in numbers for the big games, yet you think it’s sunderland with the plastic fans?

What a f***ing dribbler

They average 26000 and 10,000 more for big games

We average 32,000 and 10,000 more for big games

This is a big game and our crowd is lower than our average. There is deffo one dribbler in this conversation for sure

Is that how being a football fan works these days?

Probably started by the same fella as advocated us playing behind closed doors so as not to make the players nervous

Make stuff up, good plan

No course not but also got to look at where we are at compared to where we were a month ago. There's a lack of buzz around the place. When the predict an attendance thread came out last week I went for 29600 & it'll probably end up being lower than that. Be just shy of the crowd that turned up in the first leg of the Carling cup semis and United had like 5-6k that day

2017-2018

Championship

Fulham average 19,896 Play offs 23,529 percentage +/- +18.4%

Smogs average 25,528 Play offs 29,233 Percentage +/- +14.5%

Villa average 32, 235 Play offs 40,505 Percentage +/- +25.65%

Derby average 27,175 Play offs 27,163 Percentage +/- -0.1%

League 1

Charlton average 11,846 Play offs 14,367 Percentage +/- +21.2%

Shrewsbury average 6,249 Play offs 9,016 Percentage +/- +44.2%

Rotherham average 8514 Play offs 11,061 Percentage +/- +29.9%

Scunthorpe average 4364 Play offs 6591 Percentage +/- +51%

Sunderland average 32,157 Play offs? Percentage +/1 ?

Chucking some figures about then

Attendance tomorrow 28,000 14.8% less than average league gate

Attendance tomorrow 27,000 19.1 % less than average league gate

Attendance tomorrow 26,000 23.6% below average league gate

In short our "fans" failure to support their team in the play off semi finals is unprecedented in the play offs. Virtually every clubs fans support their team in much bigger numbers during the play offs and SAFC, the "best fans in the land" will see a huge percentage drop that is unrivalled for its plasticness in play off history.

And who says we never win owt.
I do get what you're saying, and somebody has probably brought this up, but the first leg isn't too exciting.

Pretty sure if we had the second leg at home it would be a lot more.
Even if we're 2 nil up in this game, you can't get too excited about it.

Another thread having a pop at our fans.

We averaged 32,000 in the third tier which is a record. That's higher than most teams in the top leagues across Europe. We got 46,000 on Boxing Day for the Bradford game. The highest attendance outside the PL this season. A couple 1000 fans decide to give a game a miss and they are the worse in the world. We'll have 28,000 there tonight which would be our real average attendance. Fans have to travel every week to us play and probably can afford this one.

A month ago we had automatic promotion in our hands and blew it. But we can't fault the players or the manager. But the fans are fair game.

Im sure other clubs fans are delighted at spending theirs.......How on earth can Sunderland fans justify this, its an utter humiliation.

For this utter embarrassment 100% they are yes.
So it was the fans fault we threw away the EFL Trophy? It was the fans fault we were level on points with Barnsley and had promotion in our hands a month ago but ended up 5th?

Piss off man.

The silly kick off time on a Saturday night really does not help like. Also I'd imagine the attendance would be higher if it was a second leg.
