In short our "fans" failure to support their team in the play off semi finals is unprecedented in the play offs. Virtually every clubs fans support their team in much bigger numbers during the play offs and SAFC, the "best fans in the land" will see a huge percentage drop that is unrivalled for its plasticness in play off history.

And who says we never win owt.

What an absolute fuckin arsehole you are!

If we lose tonight I'm expecting a thread saying it's the fans fault for not packing the stadium

I think we probably agree.
Personally I reckon @Reiver hid the nail squarely on the head when he said, "there are some people with understandable reasons for not going imo, not least the fact that the match is, in one way, meaningless. There'll be little sense of excitement, even with a 2/3-0 scoreline, because its only 'half time'."
I can't really get excited about this match at the moment because whatever the result today, like he says, it's only half time in the tie. I am sure I will change my attitude at the game.
My point will remain though, people don't need to make excuses for their non attendance, I just don't understand why those that can go don't.

It's not a meaningless game in the slightest, this whole it's only the first leg so it doesn't mean much is madness, if we win 2-0 today and lose 1-0 on thursday then the first leg will of meant everything.

I was expecting it to be next week, and would have been going. So our awful run determined i couldnt attend today

Maybe I didn't explain myself very well, so here goes another attempt:

The next two games are the most important games of our season so far, but my enthusiasm for tonight's game is diminished because whatever the score is, it is not a result as the tie is played over two legs. I will be setting off at 17.00 from home to be at the game and my enthusiasm will no doubt be restored during the journey. I hope this explanation meets with your satisfaction

It’s an absolute fact that a vociferous and supportive home crowd can have a massive effect on the result.
The Liverpool players to a man , felt the influence of their crowd dragged them over the line last week .

An under 30k crowd for a massive game like tonight’s will be poor. Where’s all the Wembley diehards?

Just let it lie man, I know 5 people can't make it. 2 due to the stupid kick off time and pre arranged plans, 2 including me have young families and can't get sitters, 1 is at work.

Fair enough those who decide not to go as they've had enough...i was on the fence in all honesty but would have probably dragged myself there if possible.

Honestly think the kick off time has had a bigger affect on attendance than people realise.

I'll still be paying to watch it on TV tonight however.

Aye but Klopp has created a mentality when they all believe that anything is possible. Jack Ross is negative & we only ever squeeze past teams. Bit of a difference.

We seen how important the fans were under Allardyce. The difference was that everyone believed in the manager & what the team were trying to do.

I know loads of genuine fans that can’t make it tonight. Fuck the fan bashers.

Where did anybody say that? A club that averages 32,000 and then manages just 26,000 for the biggest game of the season is plastic support of the highest order. The year Leeds were in league 1 for the first time they average 26,000 and increased that 10,000 for the play offs.....If their support had matched ours for this game the would have had under 20,000.

As for the mismanagement point, do you think we were managed worse than Leeds who had to go into admin after previously playing in a Champions league semi final?

So we have a much higher average attendance than Leeds, but they show up in numbers for the big games, yet you think it’s sunderland with the plastic fans?

What a f***ing dribbler
