This media fella who is championing his cause has utterly nothing to do with cricket. So I don't let him wind me up. The tabloid media has no bearing on my opinion whatsoever either.


The worrying backdrop to all of these arguments on here, though, is that there is nobody exactly kicking the door down to be picked ahead of those in place.

Good man.......nor mine.....but there are many who are very gullible and are taken in by most of what they read. It's how the tabloids make a living!
As you say,there are few alternatives to the current squad,which is the biggest problem with the England team at the moment.
Imo, in cricket,as in football,the governing body have sold their soul to the gravy train,with its' consequences,not the same in each sport,but destructive nevertheless.

Not that i agree with your first point but i'm pleased we are above that sort of thing if true.

Roy Keane was the ultimate team player so not sure why you've compared the two tbh. He fell out with team mates when he didn't feel they were living up to his high standards in regards to effort and commitment.

True but it wasn't through the rest of him liking him. He was a leader and pro on the pitch, Pietersen did that numerous times with his bat even though seemingly hated by the rest of the team behind the scenes.

Personally i wouldn't not pick a player cos he was deemed to be unpopular amongst the dressing room. That's always going to happen with a dressing room full of strong, competitive sportsmen.

He betrayed his team, mates and country imo with his texting during the match tho which is unforgiveable and a total indication of the measure of the man as far as i'm concerned. Roy would have knocked him out for such shennanigans.

Despite having a bad tour in Australia he was our best batsmen.

As a fan I'd rather see England with Pietersen in the side as he is exciting to watch and is one of the most talented batsmen we've ever had.

For someone trained in the legal profession Moore doesn't half find it difficult to get his words out mind. Not entirely sure if he actually believed (or even knew) what he was trying to defend anyway especially as the lead-in to the interview were the comments of Darren Gough from the previous afternoon when he went to try and defend KP but then wouldn't say whether or not he'd want to see him in an England shirt again.

Putting him up against someone who has particularly strong views about the KP situation might have been a little unfair on Moore like.

You don't need to be liked to be a good player. I believe Warne and Gilchrist despised each other. Michael Jordan and Scotty Pippen, Shaq and Kobe and Teddy Sheringham and Andy Cole all didn't like each other but they were all in successful teams.

It seems KP is a berk but as previously stated he is box office. I took annual leave to watch the 1st two India tests and watched about 2 days worth of the cricket. I love cricket but it doesn't seem to me that England have the right attitude, Cook is negative and too nice, letting players get their ton rather than declaring and winning eg against Sri Lanka, also his batting has fallen away and his captaincy is shocking, Prior seems past it and is not a great keeper (I like Prior), and of all the KP 'haters' only Jimmy still warrants a place.

The sad truth is though that nothing will change. Do we do what SA did with Amla and keep playing a new boy til he comes good or what the DFB did pick a load of young'uns and wait while they develop with 2 seniors to help them along? Or do we just keep picking the best statistical 11 and see what happens.

I agree to an extent but it does differ a bit with cricket IMO

Footballers, basketball players etc can get away with it. They are in a team environment but only play stints of a couple of hours, and even then don't have to spend an awful lot of time with each other.

A test match lasts 5 long days. So long in the dressing room together means a poor team relationship can fester, and do a lot of harm. Add to that the fact that 2 batsmen in a partnership are effectively the team at that moment. They need to be clued in and fighting to help each other, and I'm not sure that is possible without an element of respect and friendship.

I have played in teams with clicky atmospheres and tension and I can honestly say it has always been counter-productive.

Jordan and Pippen got on, it was Dennis Rodman neither of them spoke to off the court.

People need to get over KP, as much as the ashes disaster wasnt his fault, bringing back wont suddenly turn in to world beaters again.

With regards to the texting situation if he had been playing for Australia, hew would have been chinned by one of the players, and never picked again.
