Pickford v Arsenal

I didn’t think Everton would do wel this season but I didn’t expect them to flop this badly I thought a lot of their summer business was poor

Losing lukaku and replacing him with Rooney was a huge loss Michael Keane is vastly overrated Burnley are a team who the whole is greater than sum of its parts tom Heaton aside and although I think he’s a good keeper even though I don’t rate him as highly as most do you could have signed a lot better keeper for 30 million (heaton, schmichael etc)

You rate heaton as better than pickford?
:D:D

Well even if I have little interest in football clubs other than SAFC, it makes a change to read about another club whose fans aren't happy. At least we only spent £1.5million to end up as bad as we are - another league, yes of course - but £100+million and absolutely nothing positive, other than JP's form, to show for it, can you imagine what his forum would be like if it were us?
Dare I ask, who is to blame? The Manager - Koeman, or The Owner/s, or, Kenwright for their poor judgement, in backing Koeman to the hilt?

Mistakes were made in the Summer when we didn't replace Lukaku. There was some ridiculous claim that last season we would have come 7th even if we didn't have Lukaku . He was our one genuine top class player, who would get in most of the top 6 sides and we didn't even bother replacing him with anyone. So for me the blame for that lies with all 3 of Moshiri, Walsh and Koeman.

But since the season's gone on, the man to blame has been the manager. He never picks a balanced team, trying to shove too many players in to a similar position and abandons genuine width, most notably on the left. Take yesterday for example. Sigurdsson was a liability out on that left hand side even at 1-1, and instead of us trying to put them on the back foot by bringing on a winger, say Lookman, he waited and waited and his changes didn't address that.

Pickford has been excellent for us. He's top class as a goalkeeper just needs to stop being overconfident with his kicking as he often wastes possession.

I see Koeman has gone. Correct decision from the club, but no idea who we should replace him with that is a realistic option.

Losing Lukaku was inevitable. Getting Rooney if you play him up front or behind a front man was good business IMO. Spending £65m to £70m of the Lukaku money on Sigurdsson and Keane is IMO horrendous business.

Yeah it really is its missing Coleman and Mori but Williams, Jagielka and Baines are finished there lies a huge problem atm

But Keane is worse than all of them

I keep hearing this about Sigurdsson, but he played a lot on the left for Swansea.

I still think they didn't need to spend 30 million on Pickford, he is a very good player and will go to the top, but they could have got someone decent in for a third of the price.

I said that all the way through his time here although it was supposed to be a fantastic asset and would work at Everton.

Yes, distribute the ball is there's good reason but let the outfield players do their job and you do your's tbh.

Is he fuck he’s been poor so far but Williams is beyond totally shit

He has probably been their worst player this season.
Williams has been by some distance too

Sigurdsson had a bit of a niche at Swansea (and for Iceland) where everything seems to go through him and revolve around him. Seems more suited to being in that role with a side who need to capitalise on that one strike or one set piece in terms of goals and whilst he's good at what he does I don't think he's at the level some (and Everton think). They've paid for a stand out top level player, who IMO isn't quite one.

I like Pickford but thankfully Everton bought into the hype. As good as he is and might be he's overpriced given his ability and experience at the moment.

Pickford and Vlasic are the only two out and out successes so far. I'd expect the other to step up when they get decent coaching.
