Seen him play three times, once live for PNE and at least twice on TV for England Under 21s. Even making allowances for he way Preston play it wasn't good. Alright otherwise.

A quarter of his passes found their target (half would be acceptable) and none at all beyond the half-way line. Just one game though.
You seen him for England under 21s? Obviously not this match

We've been spoilt for Keeper's mind. Pants is a great keeper, Vito had a good season and Mignolet was top draw. All the way back to Ward they performed very well, as did Myhre and Poom. Less said about that other lad the better.

Pants is a decent shot stopper. Distribution from the keeper matters when you have so little of the ball and play so many long balls, and he's woefully lacking there.

He's more than a shot stopper, whilst we have been spoiled for Keepers none of them were particularly great with crosses, Pants is. I think distribution from the keeper is over stated as well especially when you haven't any height up front.

Much better is a bit strong in my opinion mate. What makes him much better than our two?

How so? All are decent shot stoppers with poor distribution. I agree mig is better than Vito. Not on a different level though.

Mannone is a poor keeper IMO, especially in this division.

Mignolet is a very good keeper, he's got more about him than either of our 2 keepers right now, obviously not as good at dealing with crosses as Pantillimon but in every other department he's better than him.

Mignolet isn't obviously on par with the top keeper in the league (De Gea, Cech, Courtois, Hart & Lloris) but is in that next level of keepers

That's fair. He is good on crosses. There's a bit more to distribution than getting it onto the head of a tall forward, though. Mannone put a couple goal kicks and throws yesterday into the feet of midfielders with a bit of space. Pantilimon just doesn't (can't?) do that. That's a big help considering how poor we are at retaining possession on dribbling or the first one or two passes of a counter (perhaps M'Vila excepted).

Fair enough mate. I don't rate Vito either. Even though that save was special. I guess we just differ on how much we rate Mignolet.

So on one game you say he's poor at distributing!? England coaches, SAFC coaches, PNE coaches, Bradford coaches, and all their fans who have seen him, all think his distribution is his strongest point. He's been linked with moves to Utd and Spurs and all the articles that link him, cite his distribution as being his stand out strength.
Strong on reaction saves with a strong arm and makes difficult saves look easy. Not many as he did not have much to do. All were appalling matches excpet the last knockings of one England under 21 game. Most distribution for keepers is a bit naff really. At least from back passes. What counts for most is distribution from handling the ball or goal kicks. Half of it is the ability of the players to trap long balls and choosing the right kick. 50% accurate is pretty good.

Errrrrr by given him a chance? Or possibly by reviewing his loan period at preston. Just a thought like. Stupid i know

Oh come of it! Everyone has already decided he is better than two keepers with all the experience of Vito and Costello BEFORE we have given him a chance. Leading me to believe people must know something already.

I will be elated for the lad. A few years back I was in an antique shop in Cockermouth and I bought some old club match day programmes from the 80s and he noticed I was a Sunderland fan and he said his lad plays for us and he said his lads name was Jordan Pickford

Sure I read somewhere that Pantilimon has made the most saves of any keeper across the top 5 leagues in Europe in 2015. Not sure what else he could have done? Woeful treatment imo.
Try watching the games instead of relying on stats that don't mean a great deal then.

He's been poor this season and deservedly dropped.

His an example of his kicking for the 21s in April this year.
