Mannone could be shop window? Everyone knows just how good Pants can be, but Vito hasn't been playing for over a season really. Either way 1 keeper is leaving this January. Pickford and whoever is left to contest the number 1 shirt. Even if Mannone is in the best form, it's only fair to give Pickford the chance, especially if we've recalled him. There was no need to recall him unless he was going to get a chance. Vito and Pants both will know that Pickford is viewed as long term number 1. For him to get his chance now, will(should) make those two kick on as well.

How do you know that?
Seen him play three times, once live for PNE and at least twice on TV for England Under 21s. Even making allowances for he way Preston play it wasn't good. Alright otherwise.

A quarter of his passes found their target (half would be acceptable) and none at all beyond the half-way line. Just one game though.

We have three keepers, we are short of funds and need to buy. I think one of them, probably Pants, will be sold to raise some money for other areas.

Agree, but Pickford is poor at distribution as well.

no he isn't :lol:

its his strongest asset. I remember watching him in the reserves when he was about 17 or 18 and he looked tiny in both height and build. Then I seen him come and claim a ball cleanly on a couple of occasions and ping inch perfect passes with his left boot almost immediately.

Had my doubts he'd ever be the size and build for a keeper but he has certainly filled out and grown.

Sorry you're wrong. My mate, a season card holder at Bradford for thirty years (poor bastard) said his distribution is his strongest asset. He has the ability to pick out players anywhere on the pitch with kicks both off the grass and from his hands with pin point accuracy. Good at crosses and a great shot stopper as well. He studied him with interest throughout his loan time there because of our friendship.

I remember when we played United reserves at United. A poster on redcafe (I think) said he was loudest goalkeeper hed ever heard, could hear him bollocking/shouting at the defence from the other side of the ground. :lol:

3 f***ing games:lol:

He did, he was playing in the first team back end of the 04-05 season, had a couple of cracking games and everyone had high hopes for him. I agree he wasnt a regular for the u21's but he was always selected for England from u16's onwards IIRC.

He only played 3 games that season because Myhre was injured. He played 19 games for us and still only has 156 games over 11 years . Pickford has played 92 first team Football League appearances already ( 27 games this season, 33 games for Bradford, 18 games for Carlisle and 14 times for Burton.) Don't forget he also played for Alferton and Darlington at non-league level. Alnwick only ever played 1 game for England U21's, twice for the U19 and 18's, 5 times for the U17's and 9 times for U16's.

Pickford has played 5 times for U16's, 17 times for the 17's, 5 times for 18's, 10 times for the 19's, 5 times for the U20's and already has played 6 times for the U21's!

:lol::lol:

No, he isn't. He's excellent at distribution.

So on one game you say he's poor at distributing!? England coaches, SAFC coaches, PNE coaches, Bradford coaches, and all their fans who have seen him, all think his distribution is his strongest point. He's been linked with moves to Utd and Spurs and all the articles that link him, cite his distribution as being his stand out strength.
