How do we know Pickford is any better?

if you are talking about distribution then it's not very hard as pantilimon's kicking is one of the worst in the league

he couldn't even dream of doing a kick like this

Very promising however we all got a bit too excited about Ben Alnwick early on, hope Pickford is the real deal.

alnwick didn't have any first team football under his belt and wasn't the england u21 first choice keeper

Same, hopefully the likes of Gooch and Beadling will get a chance as well
This. BSA has ruled out playing a lot of youngsters (citing WHU's 5-0 defeat to Forest in 2014, but I think he did something stupid and played 9 of them or something) but I'd like to see those 3 get a chance, and a Watmore start too!

I was gonna mention that aswell. Camera cut to sam and he did not look ower happy!! Mannone had a good game last night though

Errrrrr by given him a chance? Or possibly by reviewing his loan period at preston. Just a thought like. Stupid i know
He did that ,think that was his only mistake

Sell one of Pants / Mannone to release some wages.

If only we could shift Roberge, Bridcutt, Buckley, Graham, Mavrias, Fletcher, Gomez to make way for 3 or 4 first team signings...

Wonder if his size will be a problem, he's smaller than me (6'7)

He did, he was playing in the first team back end of the 04-05 season, had a couple of cracking games and everyone had high hopes for him. I agree he wasnt a regular for the u21's but he was always selected for England from u16's onwards IIRC.

Against a potentially full strength Arsenal? Got to be fair to the players too. It would mean giving debuts to two as well as a debut at thy level to Pickford without bringing Watmore's lack of experience into it. It would in practice mean four of the side having 5 games bewteen then at that level. He won't do that

Looks the likely scenario although I'd definitely have Mannone as first choice initially. He had a fine game last night and was a decent keeper for us in his first season.

I agree. Would be harsh to drop Mannone after yesterday's performance and I don't even particularly rate him. Makes sense that if the club believe in Pickford for him to be 1st or 2nd choice and sell on Pants for a few million to help with transfer funds.

Sure I read somewhere that Pantilimon has made the most saves of any keeper across the top 5 leagues in Europe in 2015. Not sure what else he could have done? Woeful treatment imo.

i meant prior to playing for us. pickford has already played around the same number of games as alnwick
