I think that's why pants has been missing the last 2 games.
Sam wanted to see if Manonne could plays at the same standard (or better) than pants before he made his mind up to sell him or not.
I also think Fletchers 'injury' is because he is off in January as well.

Obviously highly thought of by the Preston fans. Few quotes off their forum

Without a shadow of doubt best keeper I've seen in 46 years watching North End

Best keeper I've seen in my lifetime watching PNE. It has been a pleasure to have him in a PNE shirt and wish him all the best for the future.

The best keeper I've seen at Deepdale. Be sad to see him go.

Pants to be pedalled
To be fair both pants and Vito are decent keepers pick Ford looks to be very very good however he will be seriously tested with the defence we have hopefully the fans will give him more support. Young lad so will Probs be prone to some simple misatakes

I had my doubts in the summer, about whether he would make it at this level. Regular games look to have done wonders for him. Add in he is one of us and I hope the lad is our number 1 for years to come and is a hero here.

Personally I don't see a lot to choose between Pants and Vito, neither are top class, but both can be decent on their day. Its definitely time to give Pickford a chance though, after all, what have we got to lose now?

Looks the likely scenario although I'd definitely have Mannone as first choice initially. He had a fine game last night and was a decent keeper for us in his first season.
You can't drop a player after he's played as well as last night but I'd expect that Pickford gets his chance at the first opportunity and will be confirmed number one no later than the summer

Neither of them are great. Outstanding save by Mannone onto the post last night though.

Top class that.....and his save from Benteke near the end was also excellent.....he left it till the very last second and gave Benteke very little to aim at.

I'd be slightly worried about the effect on Pickford of being thrown into such a pressure situation. Could be the making of the lad but any flaws will be ruthlessly exposed and could badly hinder his development. If Mannone keeps his form level as high as last night then he has to be first choice for the remainder of the season imo.
