Physio recommendation

I am looking for recommendation for a physio to help me with diagnosis of a hip problem.

From Dr Google (I know, but I am "medically knowlegable") GTPS or OA are possible / likely (neither quite fit).

I have a telephone consultation arranged through work for next week, but without an examination I am not sure how useful this will be!!

Any recommendations would be appreciated - trying to see my GP will be a waste of time.

I use here. Had reports wrote for me so I can just give it to the GP to speed up any referrals.

I have a hip problem, went to see my GP and was referred to Freeman who did an MRI scan a month later! This time last year, Physio can do what he wants, you can pay him but without the pictures he is guessing

Physio s are shite, they don't get hands on, they'll give you stretches etc,,,,
only think that works for me is deep tissue massage,,,,,

Mind could be cos I'm too lazy to do the stretches in the first place

Kevin Bell in Newcastle is awesome. He was a physio for the mags but he really knows his stuff and is a top bloke too.

I went to see a specialist ankle surgeon in Sunderland that I knew from uni who basically told me there was nowt wrong with my ankle and Kev diagnosed the problem immediately without any scans

I had a problem with my knee which troubled me for over 25 years. After hyper extending my knee i ended up with a cyst on my lateral myniscus. I had an operation in 1991 which didnt help much. Saw endless doctors over the years, waste of time. Ended up taking fistfuls of Codeine to ease the pain.
In 2016 I moved to China and after friends saw me limping one of them suggested accupuncture and massage. I went for a session and walked out pain free. Had one more session after that as a precaution and I've had no problem at all since then. I'm playing golf without pain, bit of running, and i join in with my students during lunch time football kickabouts.
Worth looking into. It's changed my life. Good luck whatever you do.

Do a bit of research on your GPs you will probably find at least one will have specialised in some sort of sports science and demand them.

As for a physio, I have only ever seen one so I have nothing no compare with. I saw a person called Jamie oldroyd at carville and boldon (I think boldon is the other office) and he was good and fair priced.

He will write letters to your gp if he thinks it is necessary and he was honest enough to tell me after a few sessions when I ruptured my medial ligament, that he felt the issue was now in my head and I just needed to play football again and not have sessions.

Massive lads fan as well.

Paul Carr of 'Physio For All' based at Gateshead Stadium is absolutely fantastic - I can't recommend him highly enough.

Paul first treated me about 12 years ago for severe whiplash injuries after I was hit from behind in a RTA. He did a wonderful job in rebuilding me in just a few sessions.

I also have osteoarthritis in the spine, and suffer particularly with neck problems. Again it's always Paul to the rescue, who in my case starts off with acupuncture, followed by real hands on physio.

Paul charges only £32.00 per session and is completely trustworthy - it wouldn't enter his mind to unnecessarily prolong treatment for financial gain.

Feel free to pm me if you should want any further details.

I get my neck sorted regular by a lad called Ainsley at My Sports Clinic, Sports & Spinal Physiotherapy Specialists.
David Lloyd place (old raquet club) Tel. 01915200066.
Good lad, and MLF too.

Your gp surgery might have a physio on site, we do. Only a first contact one but he/she should be able to tell you what’s wrong and then refer you on

Jamie in Carville was excellent for me
cant remember the business name
MLF
Jamie's decent but my hip problem had him baffled . He's good with the excercise prescription but not really a thumbs man I found .
Les spoors in Chester is the man for digging it out with his bare hands . He sorted me out hands on but the exercises Jamie gave me keep it right now. Was a very high sartorius tear in the end , agony to cross friction but I can walk without a limp again
