Phones In The Workplace

I’d rather fold the company and set fire to all the vans than beat about the bush like this.

1st warning I ask nicely to lay off.

2nd warning tell them in temper.

3rd time either put it in the bag if I like them or they are finished.

They wonder why they are getting nowhere in life. The mind isn’t focussed.

Your a sensible lad ,but if your constantly on your phone pissing about then you’d expect to be told in no uncertain terms to grow up.
Do your rams cover mobile phone use? Nothing focuses the mind more than losing wages

I wouldn’t work in such an environment.

It's got to be done though..when mobiles first appeared widespread round late 90's time it wasn't a problem but mobiles are portable entertainment centres nowadays..how would it look if there was potential clients doing a factory tour and there's lads sitting playing with their mobiles in every other work area..makes the company look shite..you try and tell the daft lads who are doing it that it'll backfire on them and i've seen it happen..in certain areas the company noticed that lads were sitting about using mobiles 20 minutes before the job was due to be done..so what happens..instead of welding 5 components a day they're now welding 5 and a half..it's like talking to a brick wall though.

They should be able to wait until break time or lunchtime
The employers are paying said person for production not to be browsing on their phones

Afternoon all,

What’s your companies stance on mobile phones in your work place ?

Since I’ve had to bring new blood in it’s a problem I’ve had to tackle head on,telling lads to leave their phones in their bags until bait time, threats of the sack, etc etc.
It’s a real addiction to some people and they can’t put them down, hence me implementing draconian measures.I’ve been think “what the fu k have these been allowed to get away with elsewhere?”

It then got me thinking of this place, the amount of people who post during the day who have 9-5 jobs is mind blowing. How do you get away with it?

Thanks now.
Got to consider output not input.

It's not 1982 anymore. Are they all young lads new to the game?
No some are older and should no better.

Youngens get a chance and try to educate them 1st,older ones get told and to the point straight away as they know what they are f***ing doing.

Youngens fatha’s should teach them the what fits of how to go on long before they come to me.It’s obvs those fatha’s are a bit dolly dimple

That is how a coward of a gaffer would brush things under the carpet as they are frightened to confront so called grown men.

So instead of trying to encourage them, you jump in with a warning then the threat of the sack? And it's their dads fault.

Does it effect their production? Are they on price or day work?

I’ve just said I pull the youngens to one side and educate and warn them nicely. After that I do become much more firm and threaten with the sack if it persists.
In our game it’s a team effort, everyone’s got to pull their weight or it puts pressure on others.

Are you taking the piss?

And blame their dads  I assume they are sub contract lads not cards in with contracts?

I dated someone like that. He kept sending constant texts of boring mundane stuff that didn't need sharing, like he was eating a KitKat or something equally trivial. I kept getting bollocked for just sending "nice" back ☺️

At least you didn’t just send a thumbs up emoji, that’s more annoying.

Not really. A bloke checking his phone now and then doing more graft than someone who doesn't appear to be tossing it off. Simple stuff really.

Why is asking if it affects production suggest I am taking the piss?

Both.

Been on the books means nowt to me mind .I’ll still fuck them off before feet get wedged under the table.

If your not then ;

Yes it effects production,it effects morale more than anything if I’m honest as it infuriates the decent lads who are playing the game.

Silly question though to ask.
