Phones In The Workplace

Have mine on all day. Sat in front of a computer and listen to internet radio from my phone to my blue tooth headphones.

Afternoon all,

What’s your companies stance on mobile phones in your work place ?

Since I’ve had to bring new blood in it’s a problem I’ve had to tackle head on,telling lads to leave their phones in their bags until bait time, threats of the sack, etc etc.
It’s a real addiction to some people and they can’t put them down, hence me implementing draconian measures.I’ve been think “what the fu k have these been allowed to get away with elsewhere?”

It then got me thinking of this place, the amount of people who post during the day who have 9-5 jobs is mind blowing. How do you get away with it?

Thanks now.
Phones should always be available in case there is an emergency. Valuable minutes could be lost by relying on others to convey a message. If some of yours are pulling the piss then deal with it. However a blanket ban isn't the answer.

Blanket ban isn’t what’s being implemented

I won’t be fucked on with people Geo,they will be out the f***ing door
Only right marra.
Self employed mate, but wouldn't employ anyone. Too much fuck on.
We have a zero tolerance. If you’re seen with a phone at work then you’re suspended for 20 working days.
It’s a AAR requirement that we don’t have any personal electronic devices. Even if you’re caught with a Walkman or a tamagotchi, it’s a personal electronic device
If you were caught with either of those, I'd sack you on the spot for being stuck in the last f***ing century ffs🤣🤣🤣

According to our staff handbook we aren't allowed phones on us. However to access work emails we need a code which is sent to us by text.
Every first aid course I've attended has stated you need to talk directly to the 999 operator in the case of an emergency.

I work in the Civil Service, people are on their phones all the time at their desk.
Shock horror.

Fair enough in a teaching role.

@Gillythedilf have you tried explaining the RAMS to them again, then explained how it would invalidate insurance if they hurt themselves using a phone when the RAMS say not to?

Might focus their mind when they start to realise they won't get a pay out if they are off work injured

One of the annoying things I find is when you have someone working in the house and their partners phone them up constantly.

I dated someone like that. He kept sending constant texts of boring mundane stuff that didn't need sharing, like he was eating a KitKat or something equally trivial. I kept getting bollocked for just sending "nice" back ☺️

If there's an emergency then go in the canteen or go outside..where i worked it's noisy so you wouldn't hear it anyway.

I’d rather fold the company and set fire to all the vans than beat about the bush like this.

1st warning I ask nicely to lay off.

2nd warning tell them in temper.

3rd time either put it in the bag if I like them or they are finished.

They wonder why they are getting nowhere in life. The mind isn’t focussed.
I wouldn’t work in such an environment.
Your a sensible lad ,but if your constantly on your phone pissing about then you’d expect to be told in no uncertain terms to grow up.
