its probs been seb a million of times but i was thinking about buying a new smartphone not sure which one yet (dont worry its not one those millions of 'which phone should i buy threads') i was wondering if anyone had any info/advice on how easy if possible it is to unblacklist or unblock a phone and how, if it has been blocked by the network? reason why i ask i know someone recently bought a phone from a second hand phone shop and whoever sold it to that shop blacklisted it and dont want that happening to me!
cheers.

I take it by blacklisted you mean blocked? IIRC it is against the law to unblock a phone. If it is just switching networks then it will be about a tenner to get it unlocked down Park Lane.

The only way to "unblacklist" it is to change the IMEI, which is illegal but you can do it.

These people simply sold a working phone to the shop (as they would have tried it) then reported it lost/stolen and then its barred on every UK network (still works abroad tho..)

To cut a long story short tho, there is no sure fire way when you buy ANY phone 2nd hand they you wont get stung like this, only safe way is to buy them new.
