England’s last 5 games were against Belgium, San Marino, Albania, Poland and Iceland. Walker played in 4 of them and they conceded 1 single goal.

Walker being England’s best defender is indisputable
He conceded 2 vs Belgium alone for starters, the rest he shouldn't be conceding. It's a matter of opinion though. He'll no doubt start at the Euros. I don't mind, but he's not a Euro winning right back, and he won't be in the future either

But he’s good enough for a Man City side who seem to be breaking records each season

Rashford will start over Foden IMO

He’s England’s best and most consistent defender by a country mile.

I’d actually play him at CB I think, with Reece James at RB

Stones has been largely very good for the last 3 years and incredible this season

No. Its not close either IMO

He wasn’t largely very good last time he played for England...

When pep wasn’t starting foden regularly 18-20 months ago he was getting a bit of criticism from media. However pep said foden was the best player at that age he had ever seen or worked with - Paying dividends now .

the likes of Rooney , Owen suffered later on in career for the volume of games played early in their career I think

Just a hunch but I bet he's better than the euro winning Greek right back was.
 Probably, but Greece's RB did play for Athletico Madrid for a few years 🤣
That's the lad

He is, you're right. If that entire City squad was English I'd be confident we'd win the Euros. Just a reminder, I think he is a good player. If I was to hand pick from last nights starting XI for City, he'd be my penultimate pick. Only pipped to last place by Fernandinho because he's 36 and knocking on. Another brilliant player and great servant to Manchester City

I don't think Henderson is going to make it so will be interesting to see what Southgate does. I would go with Mount in central midfield alongside Rice and have Grealish, Foden and Sterling ahead of them. I suspect Southgate will stick with Rashford though with Grealish on the bench.

You think Sterling should play ahead of Grealish?

I’d be absolutely gobsmacked if Southgate didn’t play with either a 4231 at the back with a double pivot in midfield (Rice and Dier/Phillips) and Mount slightly more advanced, or a 343 that has to be manned by two holding players in CM.

The likelihood of Grealish, Mount, Sterling and Foden is slim to none. Would be class tho

Yes. Grealish is very good but come on. He’s not on the same level as Sterling yet

I just can't agree with this like mate.

Owen was never the same after getting a hamstring injury at a very young age, it was the first time he ever injured it and it hampered him throughout his career. What difference would it have made if he was still playing youth football?

Rooney just didn't look after his body the way a top athlete should and it caught up with him. Compare him and Ronaldo who both played from a young age and in the same team for a good period of time. Night and day the way they looked after themselves and I feel that is the biggest reason Rooney' career tailed off.

Foden has easily been good enough to be first choice in the first team for the last few seasons and has played games in the lesser competitions. He could still get bad injuries later in his career and he'll have wasted two to three years of his career. I mean, it doesn't really matter now as he has eventually forced his way into the first team and looks absolutely class but I just do't believe Pep deserves any particular praise for the way he has handled Foden so far.

Grealish has been by far the better player before his injury this season and he was excellent in his opportunities for England. Something Sterling has really struggled to produce imo. Yes, Stirling is a class player but we have no need to play an out of form player in that position as we are overloaded with talent in that position.

Nah. I disagree with pretty much everything you’ve written there.

Sadly I agree. Don’t think much of Phillips. He’s a bog standard PL player for me. The problem is there aren’t many candidates for that role. Tbh I’d probably prefer James Ward Prowse in there is f Henderson isn’t available. Ideally it’d be Bellingham but there’s little chance of that at his age.

Agree on Bellingham. Personally I’d gamble on him but just can’t see it happening.

it’s a shame - out of relative nowhere we have some world class midfield and attacking options and for one reason or another, we’ll hardly see many of them.
