Petition to stop Panorama (BBC) wrecking England's 2018 World cup bid

I wont be signing no petition. But the BBC can go fuck themselves.

They have had years to 'expose FIFA'. But they wait untill now when they know its going to be more controversial and grab more headlines - Great for the BBC, but a bit of a shitter for all the people and businesses who have worked hard and put alot of money into the bid.

Including SAFC, Quinny etc.

Selfish, irresponsible wankers.

The Sunday Times exposed the story initially, do they escape your wrath? It's called investigative journalism, and it's justified regardless of any consequences for the English bid.

What's more, why is it a certainty that the expose on corruption will ultimately lead to England missing out on the bid? It could feasibly strengthen it: FIFA will now know that should they give it to either the Spain/Portugal or Russian bids, it would reflect badly on themselves; it looking like sour grapes.

If we were in the box-seat before the revelations, there should be nothing to change that. Wait and see.

The fact you intimate, the press, media etc. should turn a blind eye to corruption and pure greed in the FIFA ranks is a bit tawdry hombre.

The fact ive never said that means you're talking shite.

If they want to make the programme then fine. If the FIFA Officials dont want to vote for England because of it then fine.

What will be will be.

I'm sure Panorama have done a show on FIFA before; certainly I remember Mr Blatter and Mr Warner getting pelters on some such documentary.

It was the one done by Andrew Jennings who wrote the book "Foul!" which exposed the disgraceful corruption within FIFA. He was literally chasing Jack Warner down the street with his allegations.

IIRC in the book Jennings said that Warner spent almost his confederations entire budget on a Centre Of Excellence which included a luxury hotel for FIFA Reps. Interesting and quite shocking read

Well then i'm lost, what was the crux of your post then? I'm afraid you're the one spouting shite in lambasting the Beeb for reporting the corruption.

The BBC should now broadcast their findings?

So we should just ignore thieves? the banks'll love that.

Dosen't bother me too much either. Its always a good away trip when its abroad anyway.

I can't stand Blatter, Warner and all them tossers but its the timing of the BBC that i find annoying.

Could be a shit programme anyway.

personally id rather spain got it. affordable, good weather. itd be class.
id still be happy if england got it like, sunderland hosting a world cup is once in a lifetime so have to enjoy it.

Read my other posts where ive said..The BBC should be allowed to broadcast this panorama. Ive never said anything other.

Its the timing, one week before the vote when they have had atleast two year that i find annoying.

Fair enough, but the timing argument is baffling me. The proof of delegates asking for money for votes was only recently a news story, in FIFA suspending two members last week, also the decision is made on Dec 2nd.

Why is it criminal for the BBC to broadcast now??? Panorama is a topical current affairs show.

Somebody on the BigSoccer site in the US put it well:

If all they do is re-state what was stated in 2006, and there's nothing new, then you're right, it really is just a ratings ploy and its not worth damaging the bid.

But if they bring out new information, then there's a case to be made for bringing it to the widest audience possible at the most critical moment.

I have to admit, though, I'd like nothing more than to see Jack Warner fall, and I'd sacrifice the US hosting in 2022 to see it happen.

Not saying its criminal. I think its irresponsible.

I'm not sure who its meant to benefit by broadcasting it a week before the vote other than the BBC - they have had years to expose FIFA or could of waited a week or two.

It might be all aload of shite anyway. We'll have to see.

Theres rumours of BBC investigators using entrapment to obtain some of the information. So fuck knows what will happen over the next couple of weeks.

We'll just have to wait and see.

If they have used entrapment they would have to show that it was in the public interest but in this case is it?
