I really wouldn't want Gillespie to join England, if he ever does have to leave then I'd much rather he waited for the Australia job when Lehmann leaves becasue he deserves to manage another top side. Plus it would be quite strange having an Aussie in charge in the Ashes, I'd prefer Vaughan.

For some reason I don't want Gillespie to manage England. I can't really say why, I've got a lot of regard for him, I'm open to an Aussie doing the job - but it doesn't feel right.

I also think if you want England to change their style Cook has to go also.

He's untenable now pal.
not in their deluded circle. remember their post match interviews. moores no inquiries needed and cook we played well.

there will be blasted by the press if the worst happens this summer

Vaughan has no credentials for the job. Gillespie has been proven to be an excellent coach. Our best 2 coaches from recent times have been foreign

After finding Vaughan voted Tory tonight it was the final nail in the coffin of that twat.

Gillespie is exactly what we need.

I thought Strauss was a "yes man" and the typical cautious ECB man.

Firing the coach on his first day in charge.

as we all did but i heard an interview today with nick knight and bumble stating strauss reputation as a yes man is not the bloke they got to know in the commentary box.

also in strauss's book he was no great fan of moores. lets hope strauss is a massive success, though i wil miss him hitting tennis balls at nasser in the zone

Knight and Bumble are suggesting that Strauss will take sole responsibility for selection of England squads and rely on "scouts" to make recommendations. Bumble recommends Colly, Tresco and Peter Willey as scouts. I'd go along 100% with that.
i saw this interview as well, encouraging

has moores definitely gone?

He's never been like that, Strauss has always been a leader, look at the way the likes of Swann and Anderson and co talk about them. They don't about him like he is one of the lads, he was clearly in charge and had a bit of distance between himself and the players. He inherited a team in chaos and developed a way of playing that made them the best team in the world.

Doesn't mean he will be successful in the role, but the way he is viewed on here and by lots of others is bizare

Agree with all of that. Gillespie should be aspiring to the Aussie job. It is the top job.

The best thing is for Gillespie just to go anywhere so that Yorkshire can implode again.

Interesting, I think thats a great shout, having your advisers around the country.

I don't want the Notts and Middlesex directors of cricket at selectors like, something not right about that.

Its tempting after last nights results.

 are you suggesting that England aren't a top side? Just because they have had a bad year.

It is one of the premier jobs in world cricket, with Australia and India. Best money and share of the pie.

Good column on it

I want him and gone and have done for ages

But one point I want to make is this myth that he is a statistical coach, relying on data, its absolutely shite. Based on one comment he made after the defeat, when he was just trying to think of things to say

Everybody uses data, nobody more than the much heralded Darren Lehman.

That has nothing to do with why he is failed IMO.

We need a bigger personality, someone hardened to the world of international cricket. I guarantee they will use data too mind.
