If a global offer is received, are the claimants likely to receive any legal costs back from opposition? (There are dozens of people in his cohort, hence the global settlement offer).
Basically my mate has recently received 60% of his offer, and his firm have retained 40% while they negotiate with the opposition over legal fees etc?
He was told at the start that if successful, his firm would likely be able to recover 80% of the legal costs, however this was before the global offer was made.
Yesterday, he asked his firm for a ball park figure, of what could be further returned to him should they recoup 80% from the opposition. In response he was told there was no guarantee that anything would be recovered and that hemay have to make do with what he has already received.
I appreciate the solicitor may have been reluctant to provide a figure, and played it down - but can the legally keep 40% of his damages?
We have had a good look online, but cannot find nowt - any legal Eagles able to help? Ta
