I don’t think I have missed the point. If you order a new 118d M Sport, as @oROSSo said, BMW stick the M badge on.
Was it obvious it was coming? Did you see some sort of, like, signal that it was going to happen?
Yer I think so mate. If it’s a proper M model it would be a M3 or M1, no indication of the engine size. The M 320d is the m sport model which is just the bits I’ve mentioned, not the engine.

Mines a 120D M Sport. Doesn't have the M badges, other than on the gear stick and steering wheel because they are M spec.
Plenty of people with the M Sport model, because of the looks and suspension/steering tweaks. It's not a full M car obviously so I'm glad mine doesn't have the badges on the outside but the M Sport model does often come with the badges and it does look better than the SE etc. so maybe worth ditching the jealousy eh? Who cares really?

Just a way to sell cars. Ford have the St line vauxhall have the vx line. It's basically the level of trim for the car. It's trying to denote a bit more of a sport model nothing more
