People who work on building sites

Especially in this type of weather .

Could pay me a fortune and I'd still be sick as a chip doing it.

Getting up early doors Monday to Friday, working all day for next 8 and a half hours ,sometimes longer .

Absolute mugs game imho .

Anyone on here do it.?

Glad I got out of it when I could

Discuss..

I imagine their pay is at an all time high. What work do you do now?

Noticed when dead cold, no brickies on site obvly due to cement wudnt set. If directly employed by Story Homes, Bellway etc, do they get paid to sit on their hands ?
Job and knock Friday and in pub at dinner time, happy as owt fellas I knew

Crikey, does that still happen in this day and age ? Seems like a relic of the past

Mostly contractors now mate. Will be price work with time frames I’d imagine.

Several of my friends went to shifting tiles for roofs straight from school with our friend's dad and were paid £60 a week. They were earning £800 per week roofing by the late 90s before they even did any private work. Always in the pub by 3. One of them is an absolute jakey now, works in a corner shop when he turns up. Total waste.

Wtf is a jakey?

Really ?
You always see placards on the herris fencing saying "bricklayers wanted" so assumed most wud be directly employed
Rarely. They will have their own squads but will be contractors. Only blokes who are employed on site now are mainly a couple of joeys and a forklift/van driver.

Hard graft but good money to be made. Wish I'd got a trade when I left school. Think I'd have preferred joinery or electrician to bricklaying like.

Possibly a tough year or two coming up for them though.
