Paying off debt

Just caught a glimpse on Sky Sports News saying that we , SAFC, have decided to pay off our debts with any further money received from the Premier league this season...so what does this mean in reality?
No more player bonuses? Letting players go right now? Or simply chucking the towel in? I know I have done the latter like.
This is pretty normal apparently.

And spending time rebuilding in the lower leagues. That was the focus of what I meant. While they suffered administration and a trip to league 1 they were away from the premier league and the spot light and pressures to build a decent young squad and blood countless youngsters. We need to do something similar.
.

If we fall down the leagues, and with what is being put about here, the club is unsustainable, what is the logic behind the idea that we will ever climb back again?

Money doesn't guarantee success but we will have a parachute payment to invest wisely

How long have you got. How many decent kids have we produced in the past few years, I can hardly count them on the fingers of one hand over the past fifty years. Colin Todd, Colin Suggett, Dennis Tueart, Billy Hughes, Jordan Henderson.........I'm starting to struggle.

No we wont.....................its £40 million less than the money you get for being in the PL so theres a big black hole in the clubs turnover..............

To service the debt, no doubt. I realise why I gave up on them last season, what is the incentive for supporters? They sing "We are the greatest" and need to add but we're skint so we're not.

About £58 million...............

So we'll be £40 million down on TV rights. If we keep the exact same set of players, we'd make a saving of £23 million on wages compared to this season (presuming players take a 40% cut upon relegation as reported by Niall Quinn).

So we're £17 million down after that. If we can offload a few players this should make up some of the difference. Obviously we'll be worse off in the Championship, it's just not a catastrophic as it could have been without the wage reduction.

Is the £40 million reduction down on TV rights compare to what we're getting now, or compared to what we would be getting next season if we stay up?

Obviously other income including gate receipts and sponsorship will be way down too.

The club will be financially fine - the wag bill will be vastly reduced given the number of players off the books. The problem comes when we have to replace them, but I reckon ES will have to bankroll us for 12 months in order to get us back up to the PL

How much are parachute payments next season? How does it compare with tv payment in last accounts?[DOUBLEPOST=1396522811][/DOUBLEPOST]

He has been bankrolling us while we have been in the pl so no change there.

Yes and we have also tripled the overdraft in the last reported financial year and borrowed close to £30 million on top of that so god knows whats lurking in the next set.

Then you have to rebuild a team to get out of the Championship and once you do start all over again with a PL one...........going down has no benefits and the rebuilding job we need to do is much easier if we stay up which alas looks unlikely now..........

The drop in tv money will be from what we are receiving and will have spent this season..............[DOUBLEPOST=1396523041][/DOUBLEPOST]

Aye but only because the billionaire whose been propping it up for years now will have to continue to do so but widen his pockets even more ............

or risk his investment shrinking even further - if and when Ellis packs up, he needs the team to by established PL if he's going to make any money back

I very much doubt its an investment any more as I bet he wont find anyone willing to give him whats hes put in to date without making a profit..............

True, but if he wants to make any money back he needs the team to be in the PL and all the guaranteed riches that come with it. You have to assume that he will sell up one day, even if that means cutting his losses and taking what he can - even in that scenario he will get more money for the club if we are in the PL

Yes as he doesn't have a choice but the tripling of the overdraft and the bank loan tell you hes more than likely had enough of just pouring his own money down a big black hole...........

I bet he would walk tomorrow if some other mug offered him his cash back........

Probably, but they won't. Again, if he does envisage selling it would have to be in the PL - far greater chance of someone taking on the club (and the debt) if we have PL TV money guaranteed.
