He used to wear a Sheff United kagoul at some early Housemartins gigs which impressed me in the 80s

I used to love The Housemartins, I saw them at Bridlington Spa on what turned out to be their last English gig.

I bumped into Hugh Whittaker on the last train back from Leeds to Hull a few years back. As I was pissed I engaged in conversation with him and he was polite enough to humour me and seemed like a nice bloke. I didn't mention anything about axes mind.
