Benks first season has been great, but needs to prove his mettle in Div 1.

Gillespie is a no brainer, would love to see what he could do with Finn and Stokes. Plunkett is twice the player he was at Durham.
It'll be interesting too see how Dale does at Hampshire this year. Hope he does well. Deserves nothing less.

I've said on here numerous times that I was fortunate to get to know both Dale and Michael Di Venuto when they were up here and as well as being top class cricketers they were also top class people. Massively well respected even now up here. I know that a lot of people are looking forward too seeing Dale when he comes up with Hampshire this year. Dale was gutted to leave Durham.

Let colly trample all over him tbf ;)
From my vantage point if Geoff Cook had been around, and not very poorly, when what transpired, transpired, I think that things may well have worked out very differently.

Incidentally I saw Geoff last night bowling in the nets prior to the U13 trails at The Riverside last night. It was good too see him looking so well.

Benks was not the only one that got shafted.

Good shout re Gillespie has put together a championship winning attack there. He was some bowler in the early 2000's did too much with it at times with pace.

Was skipper in 2010 when we became World T20 champions - then for no reason whatsoever was replaced by ECB darling Stuart Broad and we've been shite at limited overs cricket ever since.

#justsaying

Yes definately the reason we are so poor. Nothing to do with getting rid of pietersen or having an idiot like moores in charge. Collingwood lost more games than he won as one day captain. T20 totally different windies great t20 but as bad if not worse than us at 50 over game

An England odi captain that lost more games than he won? Rare ;)

Gillespie the best shout

Like the way he goes about things, bit like Lehman , keeps it simple and doesn't over complicate things

What I would say is with the talent he's had available he should be winning county championships. I mean it was remarkable we won the title ahead of them the year before

Maxwell, Williamson and finch in again this year!

He's won more World Cups than all the other England captains put together. Stick that Stat up your twat.

I don't get the cheering for Collingwood. I have no axe to grind but the main qualification for him is his experience as a player, look how the same thing works out in football. There is no correlation between being a top player and being a top coach.

To my mind the best thing for Colly is to leave him where he is to finish off his career as a player and captain and to gain experience at coaching before going for a top job. Hr's got plenty of time.

Great motivator and strategist as captain. Massive Lads Fan the icing on the cake.

Agree it's too early for him to take the top job but he's a great student of the game who watched and learnt from the best players to make himself a top international player. He'll do exactly the same with his coaching career imo. He'll be studying the technique of the top players in this tournament very closely and will come away from it a far more knowledgeable coach. Hopefully Otis will become England bowling coach by the end of the summer with Colly's to join him when they finally sack Moores.

Colly is doing things right, he's getting stuck into coaching and is doing a very good job with Scotland and helped UAE who have both developed well in recent years. He's got a big finger in the pie with Durham and his record in the LVCC since taking the captaincy is superb along with a LVCC trophy and let's be honest he played a huge part in the 50 over trophy helping Stoneman. I think he would be useful for England but would much prefer him to stick around with Durham

His main qualification is as a player, where he won one World Cup as captain and won a one day cup with Durham as captain. That shows he has some ability. Scotland (although not the greatest of nations) clearly think highly of him to invite him two winters in a row to help them qualify, and then participate in a World Cup. And he's done some work with the UAE.

However, I want him to stay at Durham if he wants to go into coaching. And I feel the ECB may have burnt their bridges with him. He's a massive critic of theirs these days. Very outspoken.
