Patterson

I've still not seen anything about him that's noticeably good like everyone seems to make out. That save yesterday's the perfect example, people are raving about it and it's just a bog standard save. If that goes in then it's absolutely minging keeping.

He's been fine, doesn't really do much noticeably good and much noticeably bad which is perfectly good for a kid at this stage of his career really.

He deserves a hell of a lot more praise than you've just given him mind. He's been nothing short of outstanding and it's been noticed by the vast majority of the fan base.

I always look back at his first appearance for Sunderland and compare it to how he is now, he's improved an absolute shit tonne and it's noticeable in every single possible way.

An outstanding academy kid been here since 10 ,being forensically disected by it seems to me fans hoping for a mistake.I watched MOD 2last night and thought not one of those keepers were as good as Patto.Horrendous mistakes in every game,if our lad made them the hounds on this thread would have a field day.Does anyone really think its his decision to piss about playing it short. We have a tremendous local lad who will be here for years to come, and we should be thankful for that.
Here for years to come like Pickford and Mig were?

If he achieves what we hope he'll be sold off eventually and the next on the production line will take his place. Then repeat.

Aye I thought it was very strange the reaction that post got like.

I was hardly slagging him. Just pointed out that it will end up costing us sooner or later.
Should know by now that can’t point out any weaknesses in someone’s game when they are doing well overall and vice versa when someone is poor can’t discuss any strengths. Patterson has done well and never let us down shot stopping wise however it’s not helpful to put our head in the sand when talking about him often being rooted to his line with crosses into the box and excessive risk with ball at his feet.

It’s not slagging him off to say he needs to work on that stuff. None of our players are perfect hence they are in this league.

We’re playing with the same keeper we had after finishing 5th in League One last season. He’s not suddenly going to turn into a world class player because we’ve gone up a league. He’s young and has parts of his game that need worked on.

I think he’s doing a cracking job all considering.

Why is it necessary to criticize a young developing keeper who’s playing in a high pressure environment.

Honestly, he’s doing a cracking job playing in front of such a crowd at his age.

The fact that he has the confidence to move it around the box says a lot.

He’s got great potential
This.

Let's let him flourish. He's one of our own

If he is under that much pressure, the club should have gone out and bought a valuable replacement to give him a rest and competition. The club will end up flogging the lad to death rather than help him improve and grow.

He is a fantastic prospect but we know his set piece play and footwork require improvements.
A few mistakes he may need a rest.

Since he came back into the side I don't think he's put a foot wrong. He doesn't look great on set pieces when we bring everyone back and pin him in the six yard box. That's just the modern way though.
