Why is it necessary to criticize a young developing keeper who’s playing in a high pressure environment.

Honestly, he’s doing a cracking job playing in front of such a crowd at his age.

The fact that he has the confidence to move it around the box says a lot.

He’s got great potential
I mean I’ve hardly went in on the lad. It is quite apparent he is shaky with the ball at his feet, can this not be discussed? He’s a cracking keeper for his age

I don’t think he seems particularly nervous with it at his feet like. More ponderous. Seems like it’s in slow motion.

Absolutely this…..he has great reflexes , is a really good shot stopper and is imo improving all the time.

Should have at stoke when he passed it straight to them at the edge of our box
Has it cost him yet?

I think he took an unnecessary risk in the second half like I agree but he will have been told not to boot the ball.

Agreed.
We're all SAFC fans who want the team and players to perform their best, doesnt mean we cant or shouldn't call out players mistakes or areas to improve upon.
We certainly praise them all enough when we win and deservedly so!

Great young keeper ,been at the club since he was 10.He has a long contract and can see him being a 1 club player. If he just hoofed it the howls from the crowd would rain down on him.He has obviously been told not to hoof it but to play out from the back.Keep doing what you are doing Pattinho, class act.

Not a major criticism as he is so young and has hardly any experience but does anyone else feel very nervous with the ball at his feet? It’s not just been once or twice there’s a shaky/nervy instance basically once a game now.

Think it would be worth addressing as the goalkeeper coach, I think we’ll ship a goal at some point because of it, he needs to make his decision a lot earlier
I think he’s very good. His critics judge him against perfection. If he concedes a goal that might possibly have been savable then this is proof that he isn’t good enough. It isn’t even considered that keepers at other clubs make mistakes and cost their team goals or that there might be other keepers not outstanding with the ball at their feet. You can only judge him against his peers. He’s already easily good enough for this level and can only get better.

Spot on ,said to the grandson towards the end of the game that if we conceded that goal would be forensically examined, and not the ability of the 10 in front of him not scoring

We waited for the players after the game ( me and my uncle) and Patto posed for a photo with us and thanked us for our support, we said ok patto thank you.

Op should be kinder.
Did he come, then stop , go back and then come ? 😄😉

He did knock my heart rate up a few beats on occasion yesterday but he knows that if he launches it, there's a massive chance it's coming straight back with the likes of Pritchard, Roberts and Embleton not exactly known for their aerial ability.

How many times has he lost the ball with his feet. I thought he actually looked confident with it. Not just hoof the ball.

Took balls to do what he did yesterday, literally

He had a perfect record yesterday though. Didn’t lose the ball, didn’t concede.

What mistake did he make or area to improve on?

I've still not seen anything about him that's noticeably good like everyone seems to make out. That save yesterday's the perfect example, people are raving about it and it's just a bog standard save. If that goes in then it's absolutely minging keeping.

He's been fine, doesn't really do much noticeably good and much noticeably bad which is perfectly good for a kid at this stage of his career really.

Any keeper being asked to play from the back will be liable to doing this occasionally. It’s in the same category as dropping a cross or letting one under your body nowadays. An occupational hazard, just don’t make a habit of it
