That depends if we are wanting to go up or not. If the others are ready then great let’s go for it. Diamond isn’t ready and should have been loaned out.
That's the thing forego promotion to build for next season. Tbh we arent looking good for promotion as it is anyway

Haha yes I did. I think everyone would have picked Colback, Waghorn and even Luscombe over Henderson at youth level

Currently are we looking like getting promoted?
No we don't but that's a different question we are still easily within reach

There is a total lack of vision from management on how to rebuild the club...we are being run no different than when Short had the club. No one has the balls to take the club by the scruff of the neck...paper over the cracks is SAFC’s motto.

Who's says we wont be by bringing these 4 young lads in?

The point is rather than a promotion at all costs mentality why not try and build and invest in the future

No. Not at youth level. When Henderson went to Liverpool the infamous thread on here comparing the two is what I’m asking. Out with it. It’s good for the soul to admit your failings....

Obviously we’ve got Jones who we will want to play somewhere, and we would have McGeady to be involved but that lineup would hold its own at this level for the rest of the season.

We would then assess whether any of the 4 youngsters aren’t going to be good enough next season and also replace the players in red in the summer.

Only if they perform. Young players tend to blow hot and cold.
Apart from Patterson the others are in and around the 1st team
It's an improvement over woeful or bang average that the majority of our 1st team churn out. Remember Bolton the other season when they had to use their youth squad to field a team? They drew with us. The biggest risk is by not giving them a chance and continually selecting knackers.

At what point in the season did Jimmy Adamson give the youngsters a chance? A game or two earlier and we might have stayed up that season.
Looking at the table we realistically can only achieve 6th at present. I think that Accrington will find it very hard with their resources to maintain a challenge leaving our old friends Oxford and Charlton vying with us for 6th. Unless the new signings give the team a much needed boost in the next 3 games, maximum, we have very little to lose by throwing them in.
There will be a few egos hurt amongst the older brigade, but they have had their chance and been found lacking. We have 4 more league games this month and unless we garner 8 points or more the kids have got to be given their chance.

Yes - but I think it’s tough to make these sorts of strategic decisions mid-season - at least when we are still in the race. For all we don’t look like a good bet for promotion, it’s so transformative for the club that I don’t think we can forget about it till the chance is completely gone. As such, the new regime is kinda mandated to keep chasing it for now. The time for sweeping changes is the summer, really.

Yes but in the summer you will have a core of untested youngsters no matter what league we are in.

Let's say we dont get promoted this season. What do we do with the likes of Patterson, Younger, Neil and Even Benji then? Do we show faith in them to be part of a rebuild and promotion push?

On the other hand if we do get promoted. Would these untested players be part of a Championship club which I guess the objective would be to stabilise in the championship?
