Do you have to be actually issued a ticket to be fined?
I nipped into the doctors for 30 seconds today and came out and the arsehole was there typing in his machine.
I said I was off and went, no physical ticket issued, can I expect a fine?
Leave abuse below, ta

shouldnt park where you shouldnt tbh,no matter how long for.

i think it could still be issued like....

depends if he got your reg, I think

hell, if the DVLA will sell the name and address of the registered owner to clamping companies, they'll give the bugger to the parking attendants

Our lass got one in Feb and it included a bit about observing the car for a certain amount of time. He could not have observed me for any longer than approx 45 seconds. Also you pay half if you pay in 7 days, as I have no ticket I cannot do that.

i had a dream last night that i was getting a fine, i was just outside my car though trying to fix the ticket id just bought from the machine cos id torn it
the lass was alright with me when i showed her it though and my car started smiling and nudging me in a playful way! hope this helps mate

If he got your reg plate and managed to get a photo you will be fined.

Years ago my mate did the same, ran back to his car and told the warden he had only been there a minute and he was going. Warden said it didnt matter and he would be getting a ticket so my mate jumped in his car and told the warden to fuck off..... his fine arrived a few weeks later

Also, because you drove away the DVLA van will be arriving at your door soon to tow away and crush the car ....I think

if it was only 30 seconds then you shoudl be fine. they normally have to observe the car being static for 2 minutes and will take 2 photos with time stamps to prove it

Just phoned Gateshead council ( which I should have done before bleating on here) and woman on phone said no ticket = no fine :)

Traffic wardens have to physically attach the ticket to your car, coppers can just observe offence and you'll receive the ticket later.

Least thats how it used to go.

You're lucky

They never put the ticket on my car
It used to be the case that if you received a Notice to Owner in the post, but no ticket was applied to your car, then you could appeal.
For a ticket to stand, previously it had to have been physically applied to the car. So if you return to your car and find that a parking attendant is in the process of writing a ticket, you could drive off without being pursued for the offence. The attendant might say 'I have already started writing the ticket', or may ask that you wait while he completes it, but you are not required to remain at the scene.

Note that this only applied when the ticket is being issued by a parking attendant. Police officers and traffic wardens can also issue tickets, although the overwhelming majority are handed out by parking attendants.

Changes in the rules for parking tickets in April 2008, meant that this defence no longer applies, and councils may now send you a ticket through the post. However, if this happens the first thing you should do is request photographic evidence of the contravention.

If the council cannot supply this, then you can argue the contravention did not occur. Check the photo carefully against the actual area. Has it been cropped to make it misleading, does the picture actually show a contravention, is it marked with date and time, does it definitely show your car? In many instances, there may not be sufficient proof.

I buggered off about 10 years ago from a TW in Durham. I heard nothing.

Not sure if that is always the case.
