Parking in a child parking space

I can’t remember where I saw this but I remember reading a story about a woman with a newborn baby. She was indicating to turn into a parent space when some child free twat nipped past her, giving her a cheery wave when she yelled at him.

She parked her car behind his, blocking him in, got the baby out, went into the shop and told them what she’d done. She told them they’d find her in the cafe, feeding the baby. Then she did about a month’s worth of shopping.

The bloke came out, found her car blocking him in and complained to the staff in the shop, who told him to do one and maybe he’d not be so selfish next time. She was there 3 hours and he’d only nipped in for fags.

Should have towed her away for not parking in the marked bay.

He's a dick but that doesn't justify what she did mind. He should have slashed her tyres and put her windows out.

You're confusing justification with risk of recrimination.

Said this numerous times when this has come up.
Parent and child spaces do NOT need to be near the front of the store. They NEED to be wide enough so you can get a carry seat in/out without dinging cars and space so you can manoeuvre other kids safely.
People (kernts) wouldn't be tempted to park in them if they weren't so conveniently positioned.

If I had it within my power, I'd fine anyone for improper use of a disabled/parent and child bay. A lot.
Might make them think about being a selfish prick next time
In the same way a normal person like you or me doesn’t need to be near the front of the store.

However, I’d be happy to wager accidents in car parks will rise if you have everybody from parent/child bays having to cross the car park to get to the store. Car parks are hazardous enough as it is with adult shoppers with trolleys without throwing in pushchairs & unpredictable children.

Or he could have apologised and she'd have moved and he'd have been on his way without getting a criminal record!

A good point, but many have paths through car parks between rows of car park spaces. But yes that's a good point to why they're closer

Called some woman out on it at Roker Lidl the other week like. I'd parked in a normal space as I didn't have the bairn with me.

After putting my trolley back she was filling up her boot, on her own, asked her if she knew it was a parent & child space she was parked in.

"I do yes"
"Just you've not got a child with you that's all"
"Erm, erm"
"..."
"My husband and child were with me when I got here but they've gone somewhere else"
"Yeah course they were"
"Why don't you mind your own business?"
"Have a nice day"

Selfish cow

Good on you. I hate it.

Sort of related, about 9 years ago my wife and our 3 year old went to dunelm Mill (or similar). Anyway there was no space either side so she had to get the bairn out of the car and fit the buggy up at the rear. She was just strapping him in when she caught movement out the corner of her eye. This was a large suv type car rolling backwards towards her and the bairn. She had no time to get out the way so she tried to push it away screaming for help. She couldn't. It hit the bairns buggy side on. It wasn't traveling fast but the buggy crumpled a little. It did however save my sons life and he was unharmed. Turns out some dopey wifey had parked in haste and ran into the shop without the handbrake off in neutral. Its much safer to secure the child at the side of the car without traffic moving behind you.

Even worse is able bodied people parking in a Disabled parking space.

Its really not acceptable.

Whenever I’m back home I’ll get some shopping in for my Mam. Tesco Bishop Auckland, never seen a supermarket like it for arsehole parking. Regular cars taking the electric spaces because they’re by the door, people parking right by the doors, despite spaces being a few metres away, blocking zebra crossings, etc.

People turn into absolute ***** in supermarket car parks.

The difference is that you can’t tell if a person is entitled to use a disabled space just by looking at them.

You can tell with a parent and child space.
This is true but many people entitled to use Disabled spaces display a badge in their car.

Sainsbury's in Ely are now issuing £85 (I think) fines for people using Disabled and Parent/Child spaces when they shouldn't be doing so.
They soon stop when there is a deterrent rather than just a sign.

It's just laziness and selfishness - which are very closely related attributes anyway. I hate both.

The amount of times I drive past our little Tesco and someone has either parked on the road causing a queue to get past or drove onto the grass, just because they can’t be bothered to pull into the car park. People really are bone idle.

They are for kids who can't walk too far, helps them to keep the weight on. I had kids before there were kids parking spaces...there were no problems.

Scrap them.

Ah the old “let’s not make things nicer for people who come after me” statement.
The badges have photos now.
I did’t realise @Big Jeff waa checking they matched as he went to Morrisons like.
