Parking in a child parking space

I never use them, I always just park at the far end of the car park where none of the fat, lazy, self entitled sweaty messes that populate this land ever go.

There's a drop off zone outside our local Mozzas.

It's always an experience watching the gurgling obese pond-life park in it so they don't have to waddle 40yds.

A packet of tabs and a scratch card and they're usually off like

Disagree, just like the ridiculous amount of disabled spaces. Should be first come first served.
Unless all the other spaces are full it isn’t anywhere near ridiculous. It’s a process put in place to help those who find it either more difficult to get in & out of cars so need more room, or more dangerous to navigate a car park than a fit & healthy adult who can spot dangers.

For me they allowed me to open the car door fully to get my kid out without damaging the car next to me. I remember when my daughter was young and I went to Asda over Christmas, I blatantly parked across two car spots after seeing several child spots occupied by adults only. The guy directing traffic told me off so I told him to go and whinge to all the adult only drivers parking in the child spots and then come back to me.

agree they don’t need to be at the front though. Parents should take responsibility for their kids and hold their hands in car parks.

I’ve put a brick through someone’s window for doing it before who didn’t belong there. Would do it again
Bricks bounce straight back off car windows.

Hit them hard in the middle with a hammer and they don't break.

You need to tap them in the corner with a sharp point for them to break.

So I'm calling bullshit.

Fuck, you caught me. I’ve come on the SMB to lie about an altercation about 3 years ago. In the history of car windows they’ve only ever smashed from a tap to the corner. Fuck, I should have done my research

Isn't porcelain what you need to make it smash really easily or something?

But obvs a brick will go through

Only when the disabled spots are full. Which is quite frequently done by people without blue badges at Asda leechmere.

Put the spaces far end of the car park So still safe for familys to park in and means the lazy people wont use them ..... Simple
There’s still an issue of getting young kids across car parks when there’s people reversing out of spots without good visuals, cars flying about too fast, not being adequate walkways in a lot of them.

Ive got a 1yr old in a buggy & a 4yr old. She’s very good, but we’re constantly reminding her about roads, car parks, watching & listening for cars. We hold her hand, but it only takes one lapse in concentration for her to take a step to one side & be in danger & knocked over. I know for a fact when I’m reversing out, I’m watching carefully & creeping out for cars behind coming too fast. If it’s a small child, you might not see them.

Simple thing is, get people who might not be able to get across a car park as well as a fit & healthy adult, put the spaces nearer the door so they’re not crossing 2/3/4 areas where cars drive.

Think some take the piss in terms of how old the child is from what I've seen.A mean it's not exactly essential for a 6 year old is it?

Suppose 99% of ronkers have kids with adhd so they'll use that as an excuse.

I’d say definitely once they’re out of the booster seat. When mine was 6 I’d still need to check she safely put the seatbelt through the clip. That’s why the spaces say up to 12.

I think 10+ is REALY taking the piss mind. Not to sound like an old bastard but our parents managed ok didnt they?

It's about the extra space for me,not really the proximity to the door.My local tesco they are in an 'L' shape and some are miles away from the door.

The local Lidl they are not the closest but again loads of space.

Difficult to pick a an age of course.

Then again didnt an SMB'r leave his kids in the car when he went to Toys R Us?

This. I have a 5 year old and a 6 year old. They are both tall for their age (hoping the 6 year old will be too tall for her seat in the next year) and still both in the car seats.

The 5 year old has inherited his father’s spatial awareness and if we don’t park in a parent and child space I have to physically hold the door so it doesn’t clatter into the car next to us. His car seat is also an absolute nightmare for getting the seatbelt fastened because it’s just slightly too wide so the seatbelt clip is obstructed by the seat which involves having the door wide open and leaning right over him. When his sister grows out of hers I’ll give him her seat which should make life easier.

Our parents didn’t legally have to have us in high backed booster seats until we were 4ft5 though. That’s where the extra obstacle is.

I agree with you that space is the only issue. Even when ours were babies I said I’d happily park in a P&C space at the back of the store if they had enough space. In fact the back of the car park at my local Sainsbury’s is usually completely dead so if I go there with the kids (which is rare since COVID) I’ll usually just park up there.
