Parking in a child parking space

In my view it is because you need to open your car door wider to get a child into a car seat and make sure they are strapped in safely. Cars are getting bigger and the spaces are the same size, hence the need for disabled and child friendly spaces.
The kids parking places in my local Aldi are no wider than the ones for common oiks like me...Co-op the same.

I never use them, I always just park at the far end of the car park where none of the fat, lazy, self entitled sweaty messes that populate this land ever go.
They do though, I park as far away from other cars as I can, and more often than not some arsehole has parked next to me and usually so close I can't open one of the doors, I'm still deciding on either a little card to tell them to fuck off or some tyre nails from VIZ

Sainsbury's in Ely are now issuing £85 (I think) fines for people using Disabled and Parent/Child spaces when they shouldn't be doing so.
They soon stop when there is a deterrent rather than just a sign.

It's just laziness and selfishness - which are very closely related attributes anyway. I hate both.

Is that even enforceable? Thought only councils & that could issue such fines

One of the most brazen ones I've experienced was that we'd just parked up, and this car pulls up next too us, way too close. Owa lass asks him if he can park better as can't get the car seat out. He replies with, "no probs I know how it feels..."
He knows how it feels, yet he was parking in parent spaces without a child. Unbelievable.
They are for kids who can't walk too far, helps them to keep the weight on. I had kids before there were kids parking spaces...there were no problems.

Scrap them.

Nope, they have extra space at the side so you can get car seats & pushchairs out.

Are you alright? Wishing ill on someone that has a minor opinion that is irrelevant is a bit nuts mate.

That's me on the left...why not model a voodoo doll on my image and puncture it on a daily basis 🤣

Are you and Heels Bells on the same drugs? Chill out man, I really don't mind where people park.

ps. I wonder if these spaces were designed to attract more customers ;)

Make the spaces non dancers only...everyone's happy 👍
Crackers you, mind. Come out with some provocative opinions and then get all touchy when people rightly point out you're talking garbage.

Read my post two back...wide berths in every supermarket and I'll agree.

I've never seen one that hasn't got the extra space. Worse I've seen is at B&M that only has it at one side.

I hope the next time you’re trying to get to a space in a supermarket car park, that you’re stuck behind a small child trying to walk from the back of said car park to the door, picking up every single pebble on the tarmac on the way because it looks like Spider-Man, mammy, look.
Do you not tell them they’re on a road and to concentrate on getting to the shop?

I don’t think it’s something getting wound up over but you get a bit of insight into someone’s real character if they abuse the facilities on offer ie. They are selfish individuals.

Sort of related, about 9 years ago my wife and our 3 year old went to dunelm Mill (or similar). Anyway there was no space either side so she had to get the bairn out of the car and fit the buggy up at the rear. She was just strapping him in when she caught movement out the corner of her eye. This was a large suv type car rolling backwards towards her and the bairn. She had no time to get out the way so she tried to push it away screaming for help. She couldn't. It hit the bairns buggy side on. It wasn't traveling fast but the buggy crumpled a little. It did however save my sons life and he was unharmed. Turns out some dopey wifey had parked in haste and ran into the shop without the handbrake off in neutral. Its much safer to secure the child at the side of the car without traffic moving behind you.
I mean without the handbrake on of course. Tsk!

I have a disabled brother who I take to the supermarket every week and the disregard for disabled spaces is shocking. I'd go further and make the blue badges valid for people with mobility issues only. I know all disabilities aren't visible but if your mobility is fine you have no need to park right at the door. I have to get his wheelchair right by his door which is impossible in a normal parking space

That’s a contentious one, I get your issue and your gripe but those with non-mobility related issues aren’t necessarily in any less need of the space.

Some disabilities and mobility is variable dependent on condition. So, for example. You could be fine when you go into the supermarket and not well as you go around and leave. MS being one such example of this
