Palace fans

I cannit get over the Ultras bollocks enough to say that they're good. It's horrible. It's an English version of acting like Europeans, that are trying to act like English. Aye it's good that they make a noise, but it sounds and looks embarrassing. Although I don't like Man U's support, their singing is miles better because it sounds English, Palace's is just a cartoon version of copy

Without doubt the best atmosphere iscreated by their fans , fantastic none stop chanting and none of it is boring 30 yr old shite like most other clubs including us belt out every match .
They are the best and they know it.
When we played them earlier in the season it was generally established that selhurst park had a fantastic atmosphere.

Nonsense. Christ, all it took against Chelsea in the league cup for the atmosphere to be lifted was a topless clown prancing about the pitch. I'm not just specifically referring to Sunderland either. Im defending the general traditional style of the majority of English football clubs.

English support is spontaneous and passionate. It isnt choreographed and orchestrated. Palace have adopted a continental style of support where they sing constantly and bang a drum. Its noisy and it is continuous but it doesnt seem sincere or heartfelt. Thats why I dont like it. For all the "special nights at Anfield" has become a cliche, I would take their atmosphere every time over Palace's.

No bitterness or jealousy at here. I just dont like it.
Reading this thread makes me feel old because I get exactly where you are coming from. Imo, no song in the world will ever create the kind of atmosphere which is generated by something that happens out on the pitch like a prolonged spell of pressure, etc. Sometimes, I actually think some fans prefer to be getting humped in a game so they can sing through the adversity to show how uber they are to boost their self importance. The Palace thing for me is a bit "I know a song that'll get on yer nerves" after a while. Don't get me wrong. I've got nowt against singing but imo it should meld in with the general atmosphere of the match and not try and override all that is happening on the pitch. Guess I'm a traditionalist too.

Man Utd away fans are streets ahead of every other set of English away fans, without a doubt. Sing all game regardless and have easily the most songs (cos they don't just stick with the same old five 'traditional' songs and are always coming up with new stuff) with almost all of their away fans seemingly a 'singer'.

Hate to agree but I will.

Best thing about them is they don't pinch other teams songs from europe ( apart from the ones that take the piss out of other teams chant ).

They come up with their own English chants.

No friggin drum!

None of this - oh I heard this chant on a trip or watching foreign football and they all waved their scarves above their head while doing it! = lets copy it what absolute sad *****, have some friggin pride and create your own stuff.

Not contenders until they have a brass band playing 'the great escape' for the full 90 minutes plus extra time

I think it's quite obvious they are. It's a shock to some people's system that little old Palace who have always had a shite support are showing the big boys how it's done.

How it's done

Creating a good atmosphere is great and everything, and if a load of kids/men who have failed to grow up dressed in Stone Island gear, pretending to be something they're not and obsessed with pyro and smokebombs is your idea of a good atmosphere, then good luck to you.[DOUBLEPOST=1393145635][/DOUBLEPOST]
No. But the English culture's now dead.

Palace have the ultra thing spot on though, just because it isn't part of our culture doesn't mean they're "fake"

It does. Of course it does.

it's like an afternoon at the opera, not football. They can keep that shite abroad as I prefer the spontaneous stuff. I also noticed Middlesbrough's "Red Faction" tried it. Well 27 of them did, that looked errrrrrr impressive.

They aren't taking a blind bit of notice of the football as they try and harmonise.

Enjoying their 5mins of fame see how loud they are when Yeovil rock up at Selhurst Park next season

Some fuckers even have their back to the game telling the rest what to do. Its more barbershop quartet than football.

Seem to remember we were famous for the Roker Roar and not twee cover versions. Songs are all well and good but they will never be more than the thing you do when there's a lull in the action. Football is about that release of emotion and not holding a few bits of card in the air.

About 30 or 40 numpty's paying nee attention to the match, just singing that shite and unoriginal 'CPFC' song constantly. Small time, fake ultras.
