When did this passionate Palace fan thing start? The times that I have been down there, admittedly a good few years ago, the place has been quiet and half empty.

Always exceptions to the rule of course but the rule is that the atmosphere has been getting worse in the vast majority of English grounds for years

Thats the thing about Palace though. It's novelty. It's their first season back in the Premier League and theyre all cock a hoop. If they stay up and have four or five seasons of struggle it will quieten. Very similar things were said of Stoke four or five years ago and the atmosphere is as flat as a fart there again now.

Atmospheres at the bread and butter games are largely poor but most clubs supporters raise their games for the big or important fixtures.

Palace's malarky is a fad. An artificial fad.

Judge a teams support on their away following. Palace's is shite. They'll probably only bring about 1000 up here.

Fair points marra but they had a good reputation for making a atmosphere in the championship before they got promotion. Like I said before if ot means you need to get organized and everybody singing from the same hymn sheet as it were to get a atmosphere going I am all for it

Our fans were throwing golf balls* at Joey Barton a few years back werent they?

*if you class rolled up bits of paper " golf balls"

No they were proper golf balls. Rock solid. In fact harder than normal ones. You could make them out of the card that the club put on your seat.
