Our weak points tonight

Gordon was a bit dodgy like but I'd keep him in, he's still definitely our best 'keeper and sometimes these games just happen. Thankfully he didn't cost us any goals.

Henderson was chasing shadows, the game totally passed him by. I'd rest him to be honest.

I'm happy with a point & it was a good game.

Weaknesses:

  • Richardson was very wasteful with his final ball
  • Bent looks unfit but we're not the same footballing side with him in the team that we are with Gyan. Unless he's on the defender's shoulder he needs three touches & promptly loses it. Gyan plays with the ball to feet.
  • Too much hoofing! Has anyone told the lads that Kenny's gone?
  • Jordan is like a man off

Strengths:

  • Turner was like a rock
  • Ferdinand didn't have a major brainfart
  • Bardo is a revelation at LB
  • Bolo is class
  • Catts is regaining his former glory
  • CG is solid

Almost forgot...Danny Wellbeck!

thought he had two - the Cahill chance and another time he went to sleep in the first half - have to watch again to be sure though.

plus I'm not sure which of the two central defenders were at fault for Beckford's chance at the end - maybe both of them?

I almost agree with Stubber. I didn't think I had drunk that much ;)

Gordon looks like he is lacking a bit of confidence and perhaps lack of experience is showing - but otherwise a fairly solid performance. The negatives that stick out was rushing out to block a header. He should have made himself big, but pulled his arms in at the last. After that drop from the Bains effort, an experienced keeper would have taken a deep breath and hung on to the ball for a second. He knew he had made a mistake, was so busy saying sorry and thinking about it, he made an awful kick. No harm done, he will learn.

I thought Everton played a good pressure game. They don't seem to play it in a calm passing way, it is all very rushed and they get forward well. Their style causes defences to panic. We were hoofing it, just to get it clear. I thought our lack of experience at the back showed with that.

Anton is shit, but thats no excuse

Of course it is. Gordon looks very assured when Anton isn't at centre half. As a goalkeeper your defenders have to help you out, and you never know what Anton's going to do next. An impossible situation.

Glad its not just me who thinks Henderson needs resting/dropping needs taking out of the firing line for a game or two IMO, his worst game for us at home tonight

so it was antons fault when Craig ran out and flapped, and also when craig let the ball slip out of his hands then fluffed his kick.............please, no more excuses

...poor central defending...not holding onto balls, too many long balls hoping....

On a positive note...we're pushing and running off the ball well, link ups are much better and midfield are thinking much more.

I thought Everton very cleverly identified Anton Ferdinand as someone they could get at and rammed the ball down his throat all night. Turner was superb though, I thought.

No idea why our midfield en-masse looked like they were playing with a baloon for the most part, though.

We gave the ball away too much tonight with sloppy passing, at times we put together some great football, particularly after their opener up to when we equalised, but after that it was spits and spats.

In contrast I think Everton passed the ball around well & looked the most threatening, luckily our defence managed to hold it together for the most part.

That f***ing ref done me head in though, brought play back twice in the 1st half when we clearly had the advantage, I'm not sure why he did it when Welbeck broke down the wing, but he should never have pulled Richardson back. I thought he was up to it again in the 2nd half when Rodwell challenged Bardsley, however I think he had to intervene then to stop a situation escalating.

I hoped for more after our second but in the end I think a draw was a decent result for us.

or running out and losing the plot..........

or losing out again and turner saves the day......

yeah, solid as diarrhea
I've been the lad's biggest critic but his performance was solid enough.

Aye, he dozed off for the Cahill chance but looking again he might have messed up with Beckford anarl.
