...poor central defending...not holding onto balls, too many long balls hoping....

On a positive note...we're pushing and running off the ball well, link ups are much better and midfield are thinking much more.

The complete opposite of last week, Wolves should be f***ing mint ;)

i thought gordon looked nervous/dodgy
ferdinand looked nervous on the ball, resulting in alot of hoofing
zenden looked of the pace

thought welbeck and cattermoles work rate was impressive

Yeah I think the biggest factor was putting pressure on ourselves, we need more belief that we can beat these sort of teams because we can. Saw glimpses of it tonight. Takes time and is productive, just need to up that confidence that bit more and dominate games, but yes, not everything worked tonight but decent performance.

Gordon hoofing the ball striaght back up the pitch to them countless times - Everton won all the 2nd balls too

catts look like hes getting back to when he first got here, been very impressed last few games, hope it continues.

I'm happy with a point & it was a good game.

Weaknesses:

  • Richardson was very wasteful with his final ball
  • Bent looks unfit but we're not the same footballing side with him in the team that we are with Gyan. Unless he's on the defender's shoulder he needs three touches & promptly loses it. Gyan plays with the ball to feet.
  • Too much hoofing! Has anyone told the lads that Kenny's gone?
  • Jordan is like a man off

Strengths:

  • Turner was like a rock
  • Ferdinand didn't have a major brainfart
  • Bardo is a revelation at LB
  • Bolo is class
  • Catts is regaining his former glory
  • CG is solid

Almost forgot...Danny Wellbeck!

good wind up

Everton winning all the 50/50 balls. They were much quicker and aware. Their passing was excellent. We hoofed the ball to much. Seemed to lack belief IMO.

Welbeck was excellent as was Catts. I think the whole team in general were wary of our own centre back pairing.

Anton Ferdinand at centre half. Unsettles everyone, especially Gordon.

Thought our centre midfield was poor tonight. I can't fault Cattermole's work rate, but that's a necessity for a CM in this league but the amount of missed interceptions and bad touches was poor tonight. Their midfield picked up on every loose ball and second ball which disappointed me. Saying this I still thought Cattermole was much better than Henderson, that kid was invisible tonight.

Roll your eyes al you want, Gyan offers something completely different to Bent and allows us to play football and link the attack with the midfield.

Its no coincidence that we play our best football with him in the side and that was clear as day tonight.

- Giving the ball away cheaply
- Not contesting the second ball

You can't do that against good Premier League sides. Luckily Everton have fuck-all up front.
