Our undisclosed transfer fees

Because whilst he was Sunderland manager, it made no sense whatsoever for him to publicly, expressly, slag off his boss(es).

Now that he's not employed by the Club, he's free to tell the truth. A truth we already knew to be honest - based on what happened before our eyes, on transfer deadline day in January.
Page 1 mate,
Why? There’s no evidence that he’s lied to us about anything at any stage.

What are they estimated to be? The only consistent fee I’ve seen is Dan Ballard at £2m

Dan Ballard, £2m
Leon Dajaku, £850k
Jack Clarke, £4m
Aji Alese, £500k
Max Thompson, £200k
Alex Bass, £300k
Connor Pye, £50k
Jewison Bennette, £1m

How far off is this, in your mind?
I dont think we've spent anything like that figure up front.

I do think there's a perception within our support we've spent a lot and I'm just not convinced that we have.

Most are undisclosed so we’ll never know but I agree most will be structured and based on performance, appearances, promotion etc.

Well, Spurs never let anyone go cheap so you can bet Clarke will have been a few million with add ons.

Ballard was set to sign for another club for 2 million before signing for us so I guess Arsenal wouldn't see any reason to drop the price

I don't think it will be too far off being reported and if we've got them any cheaper than reported, it's great business by the club.
i think these deals have changed......spurs let a player go(who they are not going to play) for nominal fee(off wages)but are gambling on a bigger chunk of sell on fee...............we get a player for a nominal fee but get a smaller chunk of the sell on fee.................its a win win that relies on player value going up.as a model for creating team on the cheap it makes financial sense but it requires a lot of plates to be kept spinning to work.
The yearly accounts will tell us how much we have spent!

It's not "my truth" at all.

Unless someone wants to tell me which head coach bought/had the final say on buying Defoe and Matete on deadline day, whilst also selling Flanagan and Hume, and trying until about 10.30pm to force Gooch out the door?
THERE WAS NO HEAD COACH AT THAT TIME.

In that situation, the decisions are made by the staff who are in place.

Can somebody ring Murton council and tell them we've found their village idiot?

The staff with no relevant experience whatsoever, aye?
They've all got all the coaching badges. You think clubs just go into a state of stasis if it's the end of the window and there's no manager/coach in place? I'd also say, from a professional standpoint, that manager should be anywhere near a contact negotiation. They don't have the relevant qualifications.

Still think we'll have paid a few million plus a sell on fee for Clarke due to how much Spurs invested in him in the first place.

What you mentioned yho would sit well with what we're doing and no doubt will have implemented it in some cases.

I'm just wondering what his last username on here was? He's clearly been on here before.

The accounts will be the final arbitrator but i doubt we paid 2 million in cash up front for Clarke...........the player himself obviously wanted to come back here so if spurs didnt want to keep him and he refused other clubs gambling on a bigger pay day down the line might have been the best option for spurs.

Deals rarely are upfront. 2 million isn't peanuts to us coming out of League One so I'd guess it would be structured over a season or two...maybe even three.
