our fans obsession with sacking people

I agreed with your last sentence, if that's what you mean.

If it's any comfort to you we all repeat ourselves on here. As the years roll on though most people tend to develop a more succinct style of delivery. ;)

You'd think I would have done by now, mind it's a tad better than the huge posts I used to make arguing with Lappy all years ago,god rest his soul.

Pleased about us having a 9 match run without a win, about the lack of goals, the chance of a good league position falling away? Give over.

We're just pleased that we finally won and that relegation us looking unlikely now.
The collective 'we' is missplaced
Hulkster, chucky, gards, TSL and the rest of the doomies are inconsolable after that result.
They'll be feverishly seeking out the clouds in this silver lining.
Sad little men (???) the lot of them

Don't worry man, it's been a long time since the team gave Desfartes / Aslim Taslim / Maakmakk / Maradona Kebab/ Trembaths an opportunity to lash out.

Let him enjoy it.

Read chuckyroll's (now locked) thread from last night, and you may not post what you have just done with any conviction.

Chuckyroll, MBH and Gards2 seemed genuinely pissed off that we'd won

The steady progress is there for all to see, except those who don't wish to and/or have other agendas.

We'll finish 8th-10th, which is an improvement on last season.

Aye it was only a 9 game winless run this season, f***ing hell man if the way bruce handled this run and the team didnt alarm you nowt will. I said ages ago i think he should be given one more season but i was pushed to my limits during this run. If he hasnt learnt from this run this year he never will. Serious questions need to be asked in the summer and his backroom staff needs to be looked at as its obvious someone is givning him bad info re players coming back from injury.

No matter how we spend and what's the wage bill, some people would still say "remember the 15 points season? We're better now".
Some don't get it. We're not upset with our current set up. We're happy, very happy to see us year after year in the Prem. We're just concerned that we have a top 10 squad, full of high payed stars but we can't reach our potential.
If we had the WBA squad then yes, I could say the players are playing to their potential and I could call it progress. But we spend alot more and have a much much better side than them or Stoke, or Brum or even Bolton.

Tell you what I think. I think that:

1. The chairman should stop telling people that he "despises" them,
2. Having spent tens of miillions of pounds the club should not be anywhere near relegation trouble
3. the club should stop blaming injuries for their shortcomings - they chose to have a small squad and have paid for that policy
4. SAFC should put a decent side out in the cups and know what - try to win a game.
5. stop talking a good game and actually deliver something - where it matters - on the pitch, not off it
6. when the owner next appears he might refrain from littering his utterances with the "relegation" word

...you know, things like that.....

Team V West Ham
Mignolet
Bardsley
Onuoha
Ferdinand
Richardson
Elmohamady
Henderson
Riveros
Welbeck
Bent

Gyan

Team V Notts County

Mignolet
Angeleri
Da Silva
Ferdinand
Richardson
Malbranque
Riveros
Colback
Reid
Gyan
Bent

Both games we had strong teams out. No youngsters in either team and all players part of the the 1st team squad.

It is shit we haven't been on a cup run and this needs to change. As Bruce has said "these are the only competitions we can realisticlly win".

But you can't blame the management for not picking a decent side as they quite clearly did at the time.

It is down to the players not performing on the day. If you were actually there you would have seen this.

That wasn't the problem. Getting the players to put an effort in the cup is Bruce's job, especially since they are his signings. Now that's a problem!

It is not just down to Bruce. The players and the fans have a responsibility. On the day of both of these games the players and the fans were fairly rubbish. This was not down to the team selection as previously stated in the thread.

Ok, the fans are at fault again.

Did I say that. I said everyone has a responsibility and this has some effect on a performance no matter how small.

You can tell the difference when you are at these games compared to a league game. The attitude from everyone is so lax and it clearly has an effect.

It may be better to be away from home in the early rounds of these competitions as at present it just doesn't happen at home.

ONLY?! You have any idea how long a 9 game winless streak can feel?! And SB just ended it. However badly he handled the last 9 games he more than made up for it yesterday.

Start planning for trips to Manchester next year coz we are staying up..up..up!!:p

You are judging it wrong.

This message board is not a barometer of how the fans that go to games think about Safc.

Yes it is. It's a pretty good indicator.

Bruce has seriously underperformed this season and this recent run just hasn't been good enough. Very few club's would have put up with it.

I'm really pleased we managed to stop the rot yesterday and I'm glad the players battled for the fans.

Our fans are not obsessed with sackings, that's a ludicrous thing to say, every manager who has been sacked in recent years have deserved it. They just weren't good enough and Bruce to me looks clueless. I thought his selection yesterday showed this yet again and in a weird twist of fate the injuries ended up helping him.

I'd still get rid of Bruce at the end of the season.

So we were all on a high in January but knew that to hold that position we needed to improve the squad. Unfortunately Bent left for whatever reason and we brough in a couple of very good players. Bent's leaving seems to have been out of our hands and his goals have been a big miss. The players brought in have taken time to adjust just like players costing a hell of a lot more at Liverpool and Chelsea. Where we are is where we deserve to be.

Bruce's tactics and buying leave me baffled at times and I sometimes think he is trying to be too miserly in his purchases. It's as if he is not certain what he is looking for or knows what he is trying to achieve and so adopts a scatter-gun approach to buying players - not much different to Kean really. Bruce buys utility players that are expected to fill in as and when required. If we are to move on it is time specialised players were brought in - whether Bruce has the nous to do this remains to be seen. Still it looks like we've got another season to have a go at it so all's well.

sick of hearing it man fuck sake we are gonna have our highest finish for years stop f***ing moaning! the fans are obsessed with sacking people! whats to say the next guy will be a sucess! we were never gonna keep up our early form man, we played far above our ability and exceeded everyones expectations there is no way we could of kept it up and finished higher! why on earth people want a bloke sacked when we are 10th in the league is f***ing stupid forget the form and look at the table at end of season! The blip is over just enjoy the best team we have ever had!

agree, I doubt it will ever change though, especially with the internet, and lazy journilsts trawling blogs like this. I do think think their is a silent majority who can't be bothered to trawl internet messages boards, who think Bruce should be given another season. What really annoys me is the vocal few, who don't attend games, watch the games on internet streams and yet these few think that they represent the voice of the majority!!!!! they don't they are the ill informed, 'dispicable few'

So, do you think if the fans sit in silence all game this has no effect on what happens on the pitch?

Yes I do. But that's not what you said, you said the fans have a responsibility. The fans don't have a responsibility.

Personally, I am one of a few who go to the game and sing pretty much non-stop throughout. Others choose not to do so. I'd prefer it if they did but if they don't want to then that's up to them.

It's the paid players, manager and backroom staff who have the responsibility. And to suggest the fans after years of undying support for many of us are responsible is outrageous. We've won nothing and return year after year. We're fed false dawns, led down the garden path on countless occasions yet we continue to support the lads. To suggest we are at fault is just wrong. Sorry.
