our fans obsession with sacking people

whats the point in having a cup run and going out in the f***ing quarters or semis! it would of fucked up our chances in league even more! there are only 2 teams in the league above us who i would say shouldnt be, villa should be above us really so say we are only 2 places away from a accurate assesment of our squads ability is that really a sackable achievement considering the position a few seasons ago! i think your just acting a bit like a spoilt kid mate its like i want it and i want it now! going to take years to get a squad to compete with the top 8 not a few seasons

so u expect to go from nothing to european contenders in 2 f***ing seasons? get real man, we still other managers players in the squad that need selling and replacing, it takes time and to be honest it will prob take another 5 years to get anywhere near the standard of the top 7 if thats even possible! they have 10 million quid players sitting on the bench, honest our fans are ridicoulous with there expectations!

It's nowt to do with expectations of how high we'll finish or what we'll do. It's about week to week seeing worse performances than the players should be capable of and (broadly) poor transfer decisions. Small squad; no cover/ competition, rushing players back and them getting re-injured, no left backs, no left midfielders, one forward etc.

From a simplistic perspective, it's fine, we've got a squad that seems to be a vast improvements of those with Stead, Whitehead, Murphy, Lemon, Hall et al and seems like it won't go down. Yet Stoke are now an established premiership team (on the back of signing our cast-offs) and the newly-promoted Newcastle have beaten us 5-1 and were robbed by us to draw at the SoL, we weren't helped by Bruce going on about a special song and all that shit. We've been bitch-slapped in both cups, while Birmingham have won a League Cup and Stoke are in the cup final. If Coyle can get Bolton to currently 8th with such a shit squad, are people wrong to wonder why our vast resources have left us with a worse team than that?

If we finish top ten it will be great, on the face of it. But we aren't as good as we should be and surely anybody can see that. People go on about Bruce learning his lessons, but he's been in football for how many years and a manger for 13, he's not going to get any better and it won't change. He's not the safe pair of hands we hoped he would be, which is a shame.

Finish top 10 and reaching at least a quarter-final in a Cup. It doesn't even have to be in the same season.
Brum finished 9th last season and now they won a cup. Stoke finished 11 with our rejects last year and now they'll play a cup final.
Fulham finished 7th and had a great run in Europe.
Blackburn, Reading, Pompey finished in the top 10. Bolton would do it this year.

It's not as hard to do this as you want us to believe.

Show me another club who spent as much as Sunderland and didn't achieved a top 8-10 finish and/or a cup semi-final at least.

Bruce's net transfer spend is nil though and he has taken us from 17th - 10th in less than 2 seasons.

We have considerably less players than he inherited and you ignore large signing on and agent fees.So his net spend in raw transfer figures may appear close to zero, but in reality isn't anywhere near that and he traded 2 players for one on may occasions and now wonders why we can't cope with injuries (although it's starting to take the piss after today and seems to be getting genuinely unfortunate).

However his gross spend has been millions which ES has bankrolled to the tune of £20m plus for the last 2 seasons according to the accounts. Dont make on that SB has had buttons to spend.

He has it wrong, most specifically his loan policy which means we have once more to find more than half a team come the close season.

TBH if I was ES I wouldnt trust him with anymore money. He's spent enough to deliver very, very little.

so your saying u would rather fill the squad upo with shite players to make the numbers up? obv the squads not as he wants it but give the bloke f***ing time man it takes time to build up your squad as well as shipping people out

This.

Not only that but this small squad craic frankly doesnt square up with cup runs or getting into europe.

The club seems to have one ambition - stay in the PL. "Happy to be here" seems to be our motto ATM.

the money has been well spent as we have got to a f***ing steady premier league team from relegation fodder is that not well worth 20 milion???????????? most teams spend that on 1 player these days uncase u havent noticed u cant replace over half a squad in 2 transfer windows!!! and when a offer comes in for a player u have been struggling to get rid of you have to accept it for the sake of getting rid of them or you could end up stuck with them like f***ing murphy and healy u seem to think he can just go out sell 15 players then buy 15 new ones the next day, complete joke mate i think you have a bout of depression or something

No, what I'd rather do is buy properly, motivate the players and qualify for Europe without getting into relegation trouble season after season.

This really isnt rocket science but it looks like it is for dozens of people on here.

SAFC's rhetoric is absolutely first class - its delivery is absolutely pathetic.

Transfer spend.

Have you managed to separate our total spend from the money Bruce has invested in players?

Really? half a dozen games from the end before our relegation worries are ended and this is steady progress - especially from our best squad in 40 years (the majority view on here - not mine)?

Why on earth are you using gross and not net sp...ah.

Carry on.

any chance MBH can get sacked from this message board. If his books are owt like his patter on here, i'm thinking there's a few books to be pulped

Gross spend is what matters. This is the amount of money that he has gone through to build a squad that has utterly failed to compete at any decent level this season.

SB has spent at least £60m plus - gross - to buy players who he seemingly has a problem motivating and whose relegation worries are ended half a dozen games before the end of the season at home to Wigan Athletic.

Nothing, yet again in the cups, no european football, despite being very handily placed in January, all in all another grossly disappointing season from SAFC.

all talk and no action = SAFC.

People expect a lot better and Quinn has no complaints if people dont renew their ST. His "despise" comment was shameful.

mate have u looked at the league? every team upto 10th is in a relegation battle but u choose to single us out f***ing hell we are bang in the middle and your looking down instead of up, i think that sums you up like! do you really think in 2 seasons to go from relagtion to europe is realistic you sound like a f***ing deluded mag mate its a building process its gonna take a good few years before our squads good enough to challenge for europe

Is that a bad thing in the short-term? Bearing in mind we've never had more than six consecutive seasons in the top flight since 1958? I'm a similar age to you and given our previous experience I can't se why you're so negative?

I just don't believe that all of the players he sanctioned the board to sell were of absolutely no use what so ever and the only alternative is to sign terrible players to make up the numbers. I can't see any justification for him not signing a left back or left mid so far, neither is there any acceptable reason why we didn't sign Adam Jonhson. What seems a reasonable explanation of this is that Short stopped sanctioning purchases. If that scenario is true, then why the hell did he spend 13m on a forward when we had 3 to play in a 4-5-1?

But that isn't the point here, the point is it's misguided to say Bruce hasn't spent money when netting off buys and sells.
