our fans obsession with sacking people

Because SAFC has an obsession with being utterly crap and trying to pass it off as success. Once more a season has been allowed to fizzle out into nothing. However everyone seems pleased about it so maybe I'm judging this one wrong.

As it stands we are top half, so not exactly utterly crap. I would say average as per our league standing.

Bruce said give him three years and then judge him. He has had two seasons of a good start and then a terrible run. Give him next year as he has requested and if it happens again next season he hasn't got a leg to stand on and needs to reavaluate if he is the right man for the job.

what its embarrassing to expect the manager to win a few games without hovering above the relegation zone, especially when the club is backed by 40k fans and he has spent tens of millions of pounds.

wish more fans were like me TBH. the likes of you are far too accepting of rubbish at SAFC and have been for too long.

look at the way you support SAFC before you look at me.

Trouble with you is your a serial complainer , your even moaning today after a 4.2 win & you wonder why folk dont like ya? We,ve been on a horendous run & most fans are relieved & happy with our performance today .... but theres always one.

Agreed. Be a bigger gamble to sack him...unless Mourinho's gone insane and decided he loves the red and white.

thats what i was trying to say people just assume the next manager will come in and do a better job! you gotta remeber we are sunderland not man u bruce has done superb luring these top players to the northeast! were as every other manager we had always seemed to struggle.
its more of a gamble to sack him than to keep him its simply not worth the risk

The problem is he rarely can lure them to fight for him.

were do u expect us to be in the league raven? u want a bloke sacked for the sake of 1 or 2 places coz i cant see us getting much higher for at least another 3 yrs

Correct because they sure as hell dont talk as positively about SAFC here in the real world. Most are sick as dogs of the way the club is heading ie nowhere in particular. The major gripes however are the woeful football, the next to zilch chance of us winning anything and the pathetic match day atmosphere. Thats for starters.

Plenty wrong at SAFC, I can assure you.

So stop getting wound up by it then, it's just a message board

Finish top 10 and reaching at least a quarter-final in a Cup. It doesn't even have to be in the same season.
Brum finished 9th last season and now they won a cup. Stoke finished 11 with our rejects last year and now they'll play a cup final.
Fulham finished 7th and had a great run in Europe.
Blackburn, Reading, Pompey finished in the top 10. Bolton would do it this year.

It's not as hard to do this as you want us to believe.

Show me another club who spent as much as Sunderland and didn't achieved a top 8-10 finish and/or a cup semi-final at least.

Cracking examples.

I'm not talking about today, I'm talking about recent years. Villa will finish in the top 10 this season, no doubt about it.
Bruce had two years. Cups were over in the early stage. 13 in his first season. If he cant finish 10th, especially after another blip and 1-5 to the mags, he should go. 10th would save him with the bullet just missing him.

I don't get your point with the cup thing. I've said we should have a run sometime, not win it, not going to the semis, but at least snatch a quarter-final if you can't finish higher than 13th.

Cracking examples.

Using Pompey as an example is not good. They might have had a couple of good seasons but ffs they nearly went out of existence achieving it.
