Probably one of the ones who won't go back if we appoint Pulis anyway, the club's just giving him a head start.[DOUBLEPOST=1380814111][/DOUBLEPOST]
Thousands of people swear at a football match every week and nothing happens, are you sure he hasn't crosses the line with the "abusive" part of it? Or do you think you should be allowed to abuse whoever you want because you're part of a crowd?
Works for the majority on this message board.

He was ejected against Liverpool. The club then sent this letter through:

Dear Mr Banned Person

Sunderland AFC vs Liverpool FC

I understand that you were ejected for foul and abusive language at the game on 29th September 2013.

In view of the above, you are banned from entering the stadium of light for the game versus Manchester United and your season card has been deactivated.

This policy is to ensure we have a consistent approach to dealing with any person ejected from the Stadium and to safeguard those attending the Stadium of Light.

yours sincerely,

Mr Mick Smith.

Why? There's going to be around 40,000 there on Saturday.

And if we go down? Yup, i'm sure there'll be 40,000 there for the likes of Yeovil, Barnsley, Doncaster & Blackpool.

Pissing off your customer base (no matter what line of business you are in) can only end one way.

Reading about it seems the lad got thrown after after cursing a steward after said steward had insulted a family member. Steward walked away smirking.

Seems the stewards are being wankers again like.

Good job they don't here the bloke behind me, he calls ki something you may find in a suit of armour and any of the coloured players a word that Sounds like lackey, and he's with his grand son! God help him if the stewards hear, or is that balsphemy,

his parents are reet cruel fuckers calling him Banned

I can see both sides of the argument. On the one hand football is an emotional and significant life experience, more than just a sport, more about being part of a community. On that basis it is unsurprising that self-control is somewhat lacking and the inappropriate ventilation of feelings can sometimes be expected. However all of us have a responsibility to behave appropriately within the norms of those whose presence that we are within. I would expect that in the presence of little kiddies we would choose our language more carefully; the occasional relapse to be forgiven if followed by an apology. I guess it boils down to differing standards or perceptions of acceptable behaviour and unfortunately it seems quite common to hear some adults engage in the worst form of language in front of their own families so why shouldn't they adopt the same standards with other third parties. I guess it boils down to reasonableness and social education.

Maybe it was the players who got him banned. They ran en masse to Uncle Ellis when that nasty Italian man had a go at them after all.

Depends on the context I reckon. If we want to attract more kids to the match, etc then I do not think it is acceptable to be shouting regular obscenities in ear shot of kids, etc. Depending on how the language is used it can be a criminal offence and, if nothing else, it's a poor use of English to express oneself.
The majority of people swear at some point but the manner and frequency in which it's done I think is the issue. Different words offend different people and we should be respectful of that.
