Dont know about anyone else but if I was a steward I would be f***ing useless as I would be trying to watch the match and turn a blind eye to most things other than the down right f***ing wrong stuff - maybe Im different but if I was doing work like that getting things 'right' 100% of the time wouldnt be on my agenda, common sense would

I like the Gonk's insistence that being human doesn't matter, they are employees of the club.
They are on pennies so are therefore unlikely to be the most tolerant or intelligent of people.

it is a badge of honour to see how far you can push it with stewards.

Ah, to be an adolescent.

To add, I can't recall ever seeing a person being kicked out who didn't deserve it*. You see what, one or two a game in a crowd of tens of thousands?

*I'm not saying it never happens, of course.

Only the innocent are taken.
Thing is, those who stand at the back shouting at stewards and singing '' fuck off...'' often watch their mates getting nicked.
The only true standing rebels are those in the front row; everyone else has an excuse to stand as someone in front is and they cannot see.

They should be able to just watch the match. Unfortunately they can't as they have to spend their time dealing with morons like those described in the OP.

I was near the front at West Brom and there was a steward who was clearly a Baggie. He looked like a bit of a twat as he was chuckling to himself when West Brom fans were singing 'thank you Di Canio' a la Sessegnon, yet he faced us all game.

Sounds like torture.[DOUBLEPOST=1380915186][/DOUBLEPOST]

There's definitely some sort of bravado amongst some fans (of all clubs).

it is akin to kids seeing how far they can push the teacher.
I filled in 3 behaviour forms today.....nowt will come of it mind.

Football's changed. We all know this. At Roker, if you failed to call the linesman in front of the paddocks a name which was precluded with an impressive array of swear words, you were likely to be regarded as a twat. Surely though everyone knows that these days you can't be quite as liberal with the sweary stuff. That said, if someone's giving it " for fucks sake ( include any name of your choice) you useless f***ing ( insert name of your choosing), the stewards shouldn't be getting too excited and in my experience they don't.
Suspect there's more to this story as ever.

complete horseshite. I've made my views known on numerous occasions and have had plenty correspondence with the FSF via email and on the phone because, unlike you, I'll always support Sunderland supporters. You're willing to take the word of an mag ex-copper. That's fine. Don't call me a clown for standing up for Sunderland supporters in future though. Many thanks.

So you have no idea what actually happened to provoke the incident, you've admitted that the fan probably deserved to get thrown out, you don't know who is right or wrong, but you've started a thread having a go at the club because you're believing someone purely because of the football club he supports?

I'd be astonished if anyone got thrown out for swearing without any prior warnings like. That just doesn't add up.

To be fair I have seen it once at Chelsea where they were obviously wanted the guy out anyway and used the fact he used 'f***ing twat' when Terry came over for a corner as an excuse...

On a side note, does anyone know the craic of the female steward who works on the south stand and swc during the games? She gets so into her job it's unreal. She pretty much runs from end to end to see how many people she can tell off over the course of the match

You must mean Supergran.

She was canny last season, she'd ask people to sit down in a way that was respected and everyone complied, "Sit down please lads, just stand back up when I've gone." Etc etc.

It seems she's given in to the power though as she's a teller now and not an asker.

Without question the safety team from top to bottom need training in diversity and man management. They speak to everyone like kids, and supporters deserve a lot more respect than they get.
Obviously that goes both ways and if anyone crosses the line then that's when the police should step in.

I for one will not be spoken to like that by somebody who doesn't know me, anything about me, or what I've done in life.

I've stood for years at the SOL and I swear my heed off and I have never once had any bother with the stewards.

I do agree that the stewards tend to pick on weaker targets like. I've seen young uns kicked out for doing exactly what thousands of others are doing.

Used to sit at the match with the ex (no) and she was accused of foul and abusive language and was threatened with having her season ticket taken off her, did nowt wrong at all wouldn't say boo to a goose.

The club had received a complaint about our area and she got the brunt of it, the culprit was the pyscho who was sat next to me, used every name under the sun in a family section, so it can happen if the club receive complaints.

However sitting/standing in a part of the ground where it's rowdy and everyone is up for it and not to expect to hear any swearing or abuse at players/officials is ridiculous.
