O'Shea has a pop at the board

Whilst what he says is true, I'm surprised he's said it. Considering he didn't like Di Canio calling him shit in the press, being the captain and calling the board shit in the press is a pretty hypocritical thing to do.

Yes,you're right and it's symptomatic of the whole lack of ethos and philosophy we suffer. However, these players are paid a fortune to perform week in and week out,not only on the pitch, but also in the dressing room and on the training ground. They might not go out thinking they can't be arsed, but some of them have often times gone out unprepared. Now that is the job of the manager,I know,to get them prepared, but players have to contribute and to be in the mindset to receive such preparation. Too often, their brains have left their bodies far too early in matches, and that's not acceptable from highly paid players at this very high level. Some of them seem to think that if they do one good pass or one good tackle or score one good goal that it's enough and somehow they've justified themselves. It's not unreasonable to expect top level attitude for 38 games, not a handful, and top level performance for the majority of those.Even in the games where a loss of form, for example, plays a part, you would still not expect complete breakdown such as we've seen more than once.

I've said it for a while on here but we keep on signing flaky characters, who, once they come under pressure either hide, play it safe or crumble en masse. I wouldn't confuse this with not trying as it's difficult to change the temperament you were born with. Some people thrive on pressure and lead from the front while in others pressure exposes their weaknesses. Kilbane, Halford, Murphy, Altidore,Davies....just some notable examples of recent times. We need quality players but they should also have a mental toughness about them......this doesn't mean buying "hard men" it means buying those who have an unstinting will to win and can express themselves confidently under pressure.

He is absolutely spot on, usual idiots mocking him here.

Probably didn't even read what he said.

I can see why people think it's hypocritical of O Shea to be talking about manager turnover when he was instrumental in the overthrow of the lunatic despot.

But haway, it was hardly a normal situation and something had to be done, it's like calling an animal lover a hypocrite for taking a rabid dog to the vets to be put down.

Yes of course John. I take it you're in your last season at Sunderland and realise you will be just a bit part player this season.

Can't believe people are using going to the board to complain about di canio as a stick to beat him with, di canio was a shite manager and a f***ing maniac it's only a shame they didn't do it after the first pre season training session.

It was a bigger shame the board didn't get rid of him at the ebd of the season like Short claimed they had planned to.

Stop scoring own goals John, that would be better.
