Opposition chit chat (Coventry)

It's perfectly reasonable for an established championship team of few years to think they have the edge over a team promoted via the playoffs from league one.
They might be established now but didn’t they only finish 16th last season? I’d be disappointed with that if we’d had as many seasons in the league

When we were promoted a couple of seasons ago it was difficult for us for the first half of the season. We were not ready for the pace that championship games can be played at. Also there are some very good players at the level. We only pulled away from the bottom towards the end of the season and finished 16th.

Last season we were in or around the playoffs until the end of the season when injuries caught up with us. We were good enough to do the double over Fulham who easily beat most sides. IIRC they had a GD of about 68 and we beat them 4-1 and 1-3.

The one advantage you have is keeping most of your side together. They know how each other play. But if they don't get up to speed quickly it will be a difficult start to the season. What we hope is you play attacking football against us especially as there will be a massive crowd. That would suit us perfectly. We attack on the break very quickly and have two good strikers. Gyo is very strong and goes past defenders and Godden has a cracking shot on him. Hamer will take the set pieces and O'Hare will terrorise you from the start to the 96th minute. Fittest player I have ever seen. If he could score more goals he would be in a decent Prem side.

So yes we have several reasons why many of us are confident of a win. But last season we controlled a lot of games and struggled to score and our opponents scored with their only shot on target. We even lost a game where the other side didn't even have a shot on target (OG)

Will be a tough game and I’d take a point to get us off and running, however don’t feel it’ll be the cake walk the majority seem to be expecting.

They only seem to think we have Ballard, Pritchard and Stewart. Hope they all underestimate us

Our football team won't underestimate you. But we were the best side by a bit when we went up and we struggled for most of the season. So many of our supporters are fairly confident.

General thoughts seem to be a comfortable away win. Made tougher, owing to our following, but they consider their settled, experienced team will see them past us.

I reckon 2-2

Careful. You may be accused of being negative or a mag. Nothing of that isn’t true. That is the point I have been making all along. All teams will go in significantly more settled and experienced at this league. We are new. We are just the lowly League One no-hopers that the elite in this league look down on and ate easily vanquished.

Luckily Rotherham and Wigan shocked their opponents by drawing when them today.Opposition who thought they were going to walk all over them.

Maybe they are wrong to look down on us.

Love nowt more than to stuff those daft wankers tomorrow, reading that forum you’d think we were playing Man City
‘If we turn up we win easily’ blah blah
We need to get right in their faces tomorrow right from the start, needs to be hostile from the Stands as well
A club I genuinely wouldn’t mind the mags turning over, or better still administration

I’d take a good solid draw with a decent performance. Think these could be pushing for top six and OHare is very good. Be surprised he’s not playing premier football by the end of the season.

Let's be honest. If we were playing a newly promoted side back in our established PL days even with it being away from home, we would fancy our chances.
I hate playing newly promoted clubs first game, they are always tails up like a new puppy.
Better to wait till mid season when the optimism has been derailed

3 nowt. Top of the league and staying there.
Nowt difficult here.
Then they can toddle off home, back to the outskirts of Birmingham, and look at pictures of that rank brown away kit they used to have, and dream of the good times under Jimmy the f***ing Chin.
