Online gaming Xbox series X & X Box One

The bairn can play some of his mates on FIFA 22 online but some he can’t. He can play his pals who have the series x but can’t play his mates who have the Xbox one. Any ideas? Cheers in advance

Looks like he’ll have to install the Xbox one version as well to play those on older consoles.

Has to be the same version,the bairn has installed both on the x for the very same reason. Its also a different game completely
 
Its the same as battlefield. Cross generation play is disabled by game makers. So myself on xbox one can play with ps4 players but not ps5 and xbox x players. Couple of lads at work have ps5 and xbox x and none of us can find them on battlefield and some others
