O'Nien's Cameo Tonight

He’s shit, read it on here.
This, its a long season, he'll get his chance. Two excellent substitutions by JR bringing him on in the last two games. Helped see the games out for us. Honeyman, Power, McGeouch, Cattermole, O' Nein fighting for 3 spots, with Robson as back up. I don't see an issue

Didn't manage to see it but sounds like could be a great back up / challenger to Honeyman for that advanced midfield spot. Glad to hear.

Yes there is he’s in a different league to this lad
At the moment, definitely, marra. Would love to see O'Nien grow into a quality player with us, tho!

 You forgot about Power, Mumba, etc!

We don't need him.
How can you honestly compare Power and Mumba to Catts and say that we don't need him? Totally different types of player!

You really are a complete bell end.
There are Several 'Strikers' on here who fall into the same category. Amazes me!

 this Honeyman-bashing needs to stop like. It's embarrassing.
Add Catts, Matthews and Flanagan to your list, too marra!

I take great comfort in knowing I clearly understand the game better than some because I struggle to find fault with Honeyman most weeks.

He's crucial to the high press, he never lets up, he's neat and tidy in dangerous areas, he links well with Maguire from the left and Gooch from the right, he contributes a goal every other week from midfield, he's clearly popular amongst the players & coaching staff, he'll never end up in the press for the wrong reasons and he wants to be here.
Aye - but apart from that!

O'Nien has took a bit of time to settle, looks like he is finding his feet now and will be important to the squad as the season progresses. He is only 24 next month plenty of time to see how much potential he really has.

he has lots of energy and hunger which makes him a great impact sub..but perhaps not the quality to justifty a place in midfield from the start, his first touch isnt great at all....the arrangment where cattermole throws his weight around in the first half and we dont concede an early goal like we used to but gets booked so we bring 09 in when we are having more of the ball strikes me as ideal..

Start him

when he started games he wasnt much use..but as a sub aganst tiered players he is fine..

Honeyman has his obvious plus points* but imo, and that's all it is an opinion, he is very average at his best. Passing isn't great, rarely beats a man, doesn't have much pace, isn't much of a goal threat (so far this season).

*great work rate and a brilliant attitude.

As for O'Nien it's nice to see the lad at least showing some promise. He's as keen as mustard and will improve imo

Had a good game tonight.
I've been a stern critic of the lad but he definitely had one of his better games last night. Tenacious and helped us break away a few times. There was still the odd "Honeyman man " moment to be had like - a pass to nobody when we were under pressure in the first half, and a terrible header towards our box putting us in danger in the second - but it was one of his better games.

Class. Made such a difference. Didn't give them room to breathe, won so many 50/50s and second balls, nearly bagged a goal and was very wise in wasting a bit of time here and there. Two good performances on the trot. Glad to see him finding his feet!

So, would you start him next game(s) or do you think his substitute role is best sticking with for now?
No - I don't think he was as good as you say when he came on.

Bit far fetched marra.

I saw honeyman getting through a huge amount of work tonight. Important to the press and defending high up the pitch.
He played very well last night, one of his best games this season. Closed down on their players throughout and played some excellent threaded through balls forward. Another few games and the midfield will click and we will dominate games, it's coming together nicely if steadily.

people like o nien because he runs around a lot and comes across like he cant believe his luck in signing for us..and thats fine..but we want quality players..and o nien has shown relatively little of that..even his goal on saturday was a poor first touch and a mediocre finish..but he has enough ability that his energy coming on late in games makes a huge difference

Mediocre finish? Haway man ffs, that's ridiculous

You'd think Honeyman was the second coming of Don Hutchinson the way some go on. We can improve on him just in the squad we have at the moment. He's average at best. His A game would be lucky to merit a 6 but we are winning with and without him so I'll go along with JR. If he's picked he'll get my full support as will the rest of them.

You’d think he was the worst player in the history of league football the way the majority go on.

O'Nien is a breath of fresh air compared to some of the self important arsewipes we've had in the past. Good luck to the lad I hope he has a great career - with us hopefully

That's just silly he's definitely better than Gareth Hall.

I must admit like I really didn't see any of what many people are saying about him after last nights match.

I think he offers very little apart from energy.
