Please don't shoot the messenger. I'm not ITK, nor is my brother-in-law who lives in West London but keeps hearing his name mentioned as a realistic target. It may just be bollocks. Feel free to call me a scare-mongering idiot.

Apparently Fulham are interested and are likely to make a bid in January whether or not his one-year contract extension option is exercised by SAFC.

Knowing our clubs recent history regarding cashing in on saleable assets, I'm not confident they'd make much effort to get him to stay. Yes, they could hold him to his contract.

He's probably the only player at the club I'd want to keep.

he is not being sold he has agreed a extension as discussed last week. Luke is happy here and is a loyal lad, he appreciated the risk we took on him and proves this by doing doubles in training unlike some of our so called senior players.

If the year extension means he'll only have a year left in the summer, if we really wanted to keep him we'd be offering a new 2 or 3 year improved deal.

Harsh, IMO.
I think he can only be judged when he’s playing in an actual team, rather than a disjointed, malfunctioning bunch of disinterested ‘players’.
A broken team can make the best players look below par. I reckon in the right environment he’ll make a decent career for himself in the top half of the Championship.
Thank god sense at last 100 odd posts on the ramblings of some cockney tit.Which now becomes fact on smb .

It's completely ridiculous the way he is treated by the management, plays a different position every week. He'd be my first choice in Central midfield every week. What that says about our midfield, I don't know.
Maybe he wants out due to your reasons above....

I have received quite a few signed Lads strips over the years, and every time it has resulted in the said player within weeks of receiving the shirt.

Kevin Phillips
Jordan Henderson
Niall Quinn
Lorik Cana

Ironically, Luke is sending me a signed shirt for my kids tomorrow!
I hope he doesn’t get sold on.
Great lad and a decent player.
I’m messaging Wyke and Grigg with your address now.

If we sell O'nein in January that will be the final straw for many fans !! Surely this is bullshit.

Not remotely arsed about Safc selling any of our players for good fees. That’s exactly what we should be doing. The issue I have is that I have almost no faith that the current incumbents would be able to recruit properly and reinvest the money successfully.
I doubt we could sell our entire team for more than £2m at present. Embarrassing as Stew put more than twice that into the pot.

He’s a very good footballer, you just have to watch him to see that, he will play at a higher level than he’s currently at
Agreed. I keep on seeing him referred to as a limited player.

He's not particularly creative, but his first touch and ball control is top class (as shown by those keepy-uppy videos), his tackling is fantastic, his general game management is Ainsworth-instilled, his enthusiasm is infectious, and he pops up with a fair few goals too. Of all the players from Wycombe's League Two promotion team, he was by far the most likely to play at Championship level. It wouldn't have surprised me then or now to see him at a Championship team

He’s not great at anything. He’s not even good at most basic things but what he lacks he makes up by giving 100% non stop. That’s my view anyway
Very good box to box midfielder gets goals puts in a tackle and would be a pain to play against. Easily good enough to play in championship . He should be first name on team sheet in centre mid not been thrown into right back again and again just cause he has a good attitude

Yep agree hope we get to see him in a better sunderland team. The yanks money and jan window cant put into words how vital its become

If we have any half decent players they will up for grabs.
The club will either want the funds or the player believes he can do better at a higher positioned club or financially.
While we are in this league it’s always going to be this way.
