He is or would be in a good team. However this thread sums up this board lately.Somebodies bother in law in f***ing west london in between chewing jellied eels reckons we will sell 09 jesus christ. This nugget of intelligent info from down petticoat lane market sends all the crazies on a SD CM witch hunt .
This^ some will actually believe it and use it as another excuse to have a go

Methven said in the talk in the other day, the club have chosen to trigger the year extension in O'Nien's contract. Methven did mentioned something about Luke seeing him last September and talking about how he was struggling with life at the club but that was when he wasn't getting any game time last season.

Things have changed since then and I cant see him leaving in January. He's cemented his place in the first team and everyone loves him. However, if we don't get promoted this season and if a higher tier club, closer to his home comes in for him he'll be gone in a flash.

I want us to sell O'Nien in January.
This is purely because he is a great bloke and a good up and coming pro.
No way does O'Nien deserve his reputation being tarnished by being part of the latest SAFC downhill slide.

Please don't shoot the messenger. I'm not ITK, nor is my brother-in-law who lives in West London but keeps hearing his name mentioned as a realistic target. It may just be bollocks. Feel free to call me a scare-mongering idiot.

Apparently Fulham are interested and are likely to make a bid in January whether or not his one-year contract extension option is exercised by SAFC.

Knowing our clubs recent history regarding cashing in on saleable assets, I'm not confident they'd make much effort to get him to stay. Yes, they could hold him to his contract.

He's probably the only player at the club I'd want to keep.
he is not being sold he has agreed a extension as discussed last week. Luke is happy here and is a loyal lad, he appreciated the risk we took on him and proves this by doing doubles in training unlike some of our so called senior players.

Wouldn't blame him for going. Messed about ridiculously by two managers now despite putting in some good midfield performances at the end of Ross' time and the beginning of Parkinson's.

This transfer window will be very interesting. Any selling of the Crown Jewels will send a strong signal as to the club’s financial state.

Of course the player may want to move if a bigger club, more wages and based in the South East is knocking?
Crown Jewels? More like Prince Andrew’s cuff links

I want my club to do well. That will never change.

If we get an offer of a million upfront in january he will be gone!Any asset thats not bolted down or vital will be sold.....its more steptoe and son rather than Del and Rodney!

Puts the effort in and seems a likeable lad but he's an average footballer. If a decent offer comes in for him (or anyone else) I'd probably take it.

Watching him get shoehorned into playing RB nearly every week is just awful.

Let’s sell him and bring in somebody cheap and not as good

Worked well in the past ...

Ahhh the "Sunderland model"... flog out we can, replace with a freebie who's had a dubious injury record or fitness. They of course will lack any pace or mobility to aid what limited ability they have.

So do I mate. I'm just at such a low point, even I don't know if I was being flippant or serious.
I do want O'Nien to have a hugely successful career. I would love that to be with us. I'm just not convinced that we are his best option.

Tries, smiles, nothing more than a lower league plodder.

Harsh, IMO.
I think he can only be judged when he’s playing in an actual team, rather than a disjointed, malfunctioning bunch of disinterested ‘players’.
A broken team can make the best players look below par. I reckon in the right environment he’ll make a decent career for himself in the top half of the Championship.
