O'Nien isn't a fullback

Tin hat on. He's a poor fullback.

tin hat on he is a young league 1 midfielder we are asking to play at right back.

has he shown enough to play in his natural position, don't know as he has hardly had a chance, must be frustrating for him.

hopefully we get a left back in and allow Mclaughin to move to right back

Did well to set up the 2 goals. Obviously offers something in and around the box. I’d play him in midfield.

He can’t defend at right back and looks poor against opposition that actually attack. His better games at RB all games where the opposition sits in.

Probably the best right back we have

We’ve not really seen McLaughlin play in his preferred position to make a judgment yet. O’Nien is as game as they come but you can tell he’s not a natural fullback and gets caught out of position far too often. People are prepared to back him because he’s wholehearted and always puts a shift in which should be a given but sadly hasn’t always been here.

He could still have a career as a midfield player as he’s got the right attitude

Ironically on paper he is easily the best wing back we have at the club. Boundless energy, wants to get forward, good crosser and not frightened to get stuck in.

He was better than McLaughlin tonight who was literally miles off his man, never blocked a single cross. Luke maybe got too close to Rochdale's best player. He was fouled a couple of times, never got anything off the ref (mind our team didn't in general).

His 2 excellent crosses picked out McGeady unmarked both times and led directly to both of our goals.

Luke O'Nien is an important asset to our team. We were shot shy and awful for the first 2 games of the season without him in the side.

We have an ok LB in Hume...not a world beater but decent enough...hes not a LWB however not in a million year, but he hasn't been played at LB to allow McLaughlin to go back to his natural position...seems logical to me like..Jack ?
