One Of The Greatest Songs Of The 80's'

Can’t believe the posts about the stone roses and happy Mondays. Sure we went to bed on New Year’s Eve 1989 listening to stock aitken & waterman, and woke up in 1990 listening to them.

Friend had posted on Facebook about the Liverpool scene back then, Bunnymen and Cope and Bill Drummond and the Eric's club thing, and I commented on it saying that I thought Wah!/The Mighty Wah! (etc) didn't get enough of a mention when people were writing about then - and Pete Wylie popped up in the comments to say that unsurprisingly he agreed. I hadn't realised that they were friends.

Wylie, Cope and McCulloch were all in a band together - for about six weeks. That must have been some clash of egos.

The Mighty Wah - Songs Of Strength And Heartbreak

This was his feedback after he bought one of his own cds off me.

John Parr - St. Elmo’s Fire

For being a 90’s child, this song came into my life only recently and I cannot get enough of it! Singing it until my hearts content.

Native American name for the river that runs through Detroit I believe

Aye but imagine if they could've rubbed along together. Three songwriters and vocalists in one band.........now where have we hasd that before?

Theres a song on a version of the bunnymens and the teardop explodes debut album that was written then. Some bickering between cope n mculloch prevented it being on the original crocodiles which is why its less than 30 mins long iirc.

I’ve always thought it sounded cheap and tinny. If it had been produced/arranged properly it would’ve been number one.
As a 13 year record buyer at the time I never thought about songs being cheap and tinny. Just they were good songs or not.
