One of the 79 teams will get a bye into the 2nd round of the FA Cup

IT's not just the bye - the last team in the bowl gets a bye + £36,000 win money.

That is ridiculous. That money should be shared out between the other winners. OK, maybe £5,000 for the team not having a game, and the other £31,000 shared out.

As it is, it's a freebie walk into the next round, which equals a decent chance of reaching the third round and a lucrative draw with a Premier club, and the win money. That is plain wrong. Even if it's us that gets it.
They lose out out on the gate money of the tie they would have played with Bury.

Of course - that's why I wrote award them £5,000 - for doing nowt, remember.

Either that, or do what they did when MU dropped out back in 20xx - choose one of the losers from the last qualifiying round.

£36,000 AND the advantage of getting into round 2 for nowt is just not right.

The lowest ranked team left in the competition got the bye who have already played 6 games to get to round one. They've also said they'll give a wedge of their prize money to the people are trying to resurrect Bury. I'm glad Chichester got the bye tbh.

Well, that's good of Chichester, for sure. But that is not the point - the original decision was utterly wrong, IMO.

Chichester just did the right thing. So yes, it's great they got it - as it happens.
