Ols Holborn on twitter - DNYT

I've known of Old Holborn for many years.

My thoughts on him were that while he was sometimes offensive and even depraved (I mean nobody can defend the Jamie Bulger trolling), he acted the way he did as he was a firm believer in free speech "whatever the circumstances may be" and he seemingly stuck to that all the way through.

Because of this, he developed a dislike for how he perceived scousers to frame themselves as "perpetual victims" (I am not endorsing this) and as such, took delight in pushing their sensitivities over tragedies with Hillsborough (he posted a picture of two fat woman in Liverpool shirts and said "this is what crushed the 96") and Jamie Bulger, knowing the kind of reactions it would get.

He was old and bitter, but also smart in his own way in some aspects of political commentary. I also heard his passing came from terminal cancer, and they would have to be far more awful than him to "deserve" that. I can imagine he would find the fracas over his death amusing.

I suspect Old Holborn was the other way around: not saying terrible things to show his fundamental commitment to free speech, but rather a nasty poisonous shite who revelled in being a nasty poisonous shite and used the free speech argument as a smokescreen for indulging himself. Perfect example of just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

But if they think he deserves it then it’s not horrible it’s just freedom of speech/thought? If he was such a believer in it no matter the consequences then why did he get the police involved when he got some back? The absolute rat

That's not a way to test or demonstrate your belief in freedom of speech. It is a great way, however, to show the world you're an absolute ****. Fuck him.

He sounds like a warped and troubled individual.
