I'd imagine that the 3 you mentioned and Carse were the ones in line for the 6 home tests anyway.

Got to keep the faster guys in cotton wool for the Ashes anyway tbh, so I'd rather Stone/Wood injured now instead of the end of summer.

As lets be honest they'd have got injured at some point.

They like Pennington and Baker too

Can’t see them going to Cook sadly

If he hadn't have got injured early summer last season I think he'd have made the Windies squad.

Him being the pick of the bowlers in the Aus Lions tour won't have hurt his chances.

Took a 10fer with the Kookaburra this time last year too.

We do have a really high proportion of quick bowlers who are seemingly perpetually injured. It is a little bit of the nature of the beast with fast bowling but I think there's a large chance that the ones they have planted their eggs in the basket with for Australia - Wood, Archer, Stone will be unavailable or struggle to play meaningful parts in the series.

FWIW, I wouldn't even be considering Archer as he hasn't played a 4 day game since time began.

There is always the potential of a breakthrough season getting someone selected for the tour - Baker, Pennington, Hull maybe

I think a lot rests on the fitness of Carse, but at present it looks a quite weak bowling squad injuries considered.

Stone isn’t good enough in my opinion

He’d lost that express pace anyway

Yep true

My honest view, not even because of Durham, is get Potts in the side with the new ball. He can bowl all day and it’s always fit. Then you can rotate around him. You’ll always have 2 other guys fit

I reckon wood will play the first ashes test.

Agree on archer

Don’t agree actually Key has name checked him several times and he was picked for the lions over several others

I listen to all the pods and it’s over the top the calls for cook to get in the side. He’s rushy basically. I can see an argument for trying him and he’d take wickets in England but in Oz is a big gamble at that pace, we saw that with Robinson.
Carse and tongue will be available mind

Tongue should have played ahead of Jimmy in the 2019 ashes. Feel like his moment might have passed though.

With you on Potts, reliable, moves the new ball, can bowl long spells and come back just as strong in his 2nd/3rd spells of the day. He also hits the deck pretty hard and has bit more nip than Woakes, which will be important in Australia.

Spot on

When they pick him he’s like 2nd change. He’s not your man for that. Should just back him

Don’t wanna be a downer but Even when all fit I think it’s gonna be too hard in Oz, Australia have an all time great attack in those conditions

They do, but they’re going to be 32, nearly 36 and nearly 34. They could age overnight still

This myth that Hull is a quick bowler never seen him have a single spell of sustained quick and he’s nowhere near fit enough carrying a fair amount of weight.

Our bowlers seem very injury prone I can’t Wood playing much part in the ashes he’s seems to picking up things quicker than ever and even less time before he’s re-injured.

I don’t rate Stone that much as his injury record is dire as well.

Agree, Wood is mid 30's now and as much as I love him, I'm not sure he can go on much longer with the injuries. Never been impressed by Stone and Archer looks an over away from an injury.
Have got any other really fast bowlers ?? 90mph+

That’s the hope yeah. Bolland is good over there mind, albeit we were all over him in the home ashes.

I think all of Englands selections have just about worker or were worth a punt

However I didn’t agree with his selection. He looked like a club bowler albeit be did bowl one beauty

There are a lot of injured players atm. I think they should look at how they are preparing strength wise.
