Oldies again - The "great" SAFC Centenary Match 1979

I remember going to this match to celebrate 100 years of SAFC. Great celebrations. Sunderland v England X1

So who played for the England X1 on that famous night?

Shilts or Clemence?

Viv Anderson? Emlyn Hughes? Phil Neal? A welcome return for Dave Watson?

Young Glenn Hoddle and Trevor Brooking?

Keegan and Trevor Francis up front? Or maybe Dennis Tueart just for old times sake?

Let's see.... hope the link works OK

What a load of $hiT - is that the best they could come up with? I demand a refund.
Burridge?

Burridge?

Yeah exactly, zero caps (not even a U21 or B) and one of those journeymen who went on forever (not to mention that he played for the mags). Credit where its due, he still holds the record for being the oldest Premier League player at 43. (just ahead of Alec Chamberlain)

He wasn't a bad keeper to be fair, just nowt special. Just checked his stats, in the last 4 years of his career, he was "signed" by about 20 different clubs (which must be some kind of record) but hardly ever played (tems like Darlo, Scarborough, Blyth Spartans and loads of Scottish clubs).

His kid used to go to a school near Ashbrooke around 90/91. Always used to give him the 2-nil as he drove past.
